4.0 out of 5 stars A fun read! 30 May 2012
By sonbums - Published on Amazon.com

I guess I bought this book not knowing that the contents was primarily about the National Prayer Breakfast and that great speech Eric had made. I was glad to have read it. I'm somewhat of an apolitical sort and, somewhat cognitively challenged as I had missed many of the inside jokes... I'm still laughing about the Nancy Pelosi birthday shtick. I honestly haven't read much of late that would elicit sudden bursts of laughter until I read this. At the same time, it was good for me to hear once again, amongst the chuckles, the call of Jesus, and to consider the impact that has on myself and those around me. Thanks Eric!

5.0 out of 5 stars Winsom and Honest -- Nice Combo 29 Jun. 2012
By amc - Published on Amazon.com

Mr. Metaxas is bold in his telling of our need to take things into account and live accordingly -- he even puts our President's feet to the fire. Worth the read for its content, but its prose is a pleasure.

5.0 out of 5 stars Right on the Mark 6 Sept. 2012
By Paul M. Olmstead - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
Eric Metaxas is a humorous, transparent, and cogent presenter of the difference between dead religion and biblical Christianity. He honestly tells his own story, troubles and all, of how he came to know Christ personally and describes the wholehearted faith of past believers like William Wilberforce and Detrich Bonnhoffer that directed their energies toward seeking justice and pursuing compassion for others. He respectfully, but humorously, jokes with President Obama at the National Prayer Breakfast where this talk was given. I found this message enjoyable and humorous to listen to while also being challenging and perceptive in describing the implications of making Jesus the Lord of your life. It was an enjoyable and thought provoking book to read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Speech, Great Story 19 Jun. 2012
By Keith A. Kelso - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
This is not only an excellent speech about religiosity vs. real Christianity, but a great account of how it all happened. Metaxas's unique sense of humor shines through and makes this a great read. I especially enjoyed the annotation of the speech, explaining a lot of the background and inside jokes. A great read that will not only entertain but will challenge one's faith as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing in Every Way - A MUST read for any serious Christian 15 Oct. 2012
By whosoever - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
Amazing in every way. Content, writing style and theological position goes beyond most contemporary theological books written for the lay theologian or anyone who is serious about knowing more about the one true God. A MUST READ.
