As a seasoned presenter and trainer , I am always looking at new ways of improving and engaging my audience. This book takes its reader through the key steps of delivering a professional presentation in a simple, direct and practical way. I love the fact we can get inside the head of the presenter and the different scenarios played out to help us prepare for success. The 3 step approach is easy to follow and reminds us that if you want to succeed with presentations you need to prepare. This is the book to get you fully prepared. I recommend it to all ages and stages of experience in presenting. It will set you free from focusing on slides and put the focus back on the most important element - the audience.

I was quite nervous about my first presentation in over 18 months having moved companies at the beginning of 2013 after a redundancy. More so because it was in front of people I knew - fellow colleagues including my boss!

This book really goes back to basics in a clear and engaging way. It really highlighted the importance of good preparation in a way that made any other method seem illogical. I also appreciated how quick a read it was and the advice on designing slides. So much so that I received a lot of good feedback after the presentation (even though I felt my delivery could have been better) with certain slides being referred to in particular (some relevant visual and audio where applicable to hold the audience's attention).

I would recommend everyone in business or who has to speak in front of people use this book as a resource to come back to again and again. In fact I think this would have helped me greatly as an Undergraduate Marketing student.

As a "Techie" I have to do presentations on a regular basis. I have always felt that because I know my subject matter in great detail that I give a good (but possibly not great), confident presentation. At the outset I was a bit skeptical about reading a book on improving my presentation skills but after reading the introduction of "The Presentation Book" three things caught my attention, firstly the writing style was very friendly and accessible, secondly I really identified myself as the typical presenter that the book was aimed at and thirdly the approach to presentations seemed to be very different to the way I did things. The friendly casual style of the writing continued throughout the book including a peppering of amusing anecdotes, quotes and reflections of the authors career in TV and Radio. At the end I must say that I have a few "nuggets" that I will definitely use in my next presentation in particular around the profiling of audiences and the hook at the start of the presentation. An informative and highly entertaining read, a must for anyone who presents.

I like this book for a number of reasons,
1. It clarifies the difference between what most presenters do and what they should be doing. More importantly it outlines how a presenter and their audience benefits from applying the changes this book suggests.
2. It gives a three step approach that anyone can apply immediately to start creating and delivering more effective presentations. This is the "How to" part of this book and it is so simple and so effective.
3. It takes the emphasis away from the presenter and places it onto the message the presenter is trying to get across to their audience. The benefit to the presenter in terms of confidence and to the audience in terms of presentation relevance are huge.
A great reference book for anyone who wants to deliver really effective presentations.

I was a little sceptical about this book. Luckily, once I started reading it - I realised how very easy to read it is. I was surprised as there is a lot of very useful information in it but it isn't hard work to take in. I will definitely be keeping a copy on my desk to refer to. I see the tips on audience profiling and the 3x3 rule as being incredibly useful tools that I'll refer back to every time I present. I'd suggest any manager gets a copy to refer to when presenting.

The Presentation book is informative, easy to use and covers everything you need to ensure you get your message across in an organised and professional manner. We all know that preparation, knowing your audience and being able to deliver are the key items for a polished presentation, however some times these things are easily overlooked. This book helps you to understand the why, where and when. I especially liked Chapter 7, the 3 steps and the templates, really useful tools to have in my business.

The book is very clearly set out with very few frills and little 'business speak'. In other words it is a practical book which doesn't pull any punches, and gives everyone the chance to be a better organised and confident presenter. Highly recommended.
