Product description

Product Description

Classic Italian Plum tomato that is the number 1 cooking variety and unsurpassed for sauces. Large crops of 70-100g fruits with few seeds and meaty flesh are produced over a long period from early in the season. Indeterminate. Sow in spring 1/16 inch deep. Germination takes around 6-14 days at 65-75F. Transplant the seedlings when large enough to handle into 3 inch pots. Grow on under cooler conditions and when about 8 inches tall, either plant in their growing position in the greenhouse or gradually acclimatise them to outdoor conditions and plant out 18 inches apart in a warm and sunny spot in moist, fertile well drained soil and keep watered. Indeterminate tomatoes will grow and produce fruit until killed by frost. They can reach heights of up to 12 feet although 6 feet is normal. Indeterminates will bloom, set new fruit and ripen fruit all at the same time throughout the season. They require substantial staking for support and benefit from being constrained to a central growing stem. "Soil Association" registered and certified Organic - AP22387. Professional DEFRA licenced Quality Seed Supply only - Minimal packaging - Ziplock labelled bags - Instructions not attached - See details provided above for cultivation advice.

So far so good. Plants all germinated and are growing well. Have grown these before and they were outstanding! People visiting my greenhouse said those peppers look lovely. They were very surprized when I said that they were tomatoes. Well Tomatoes the size of bell peppers! Does it get any better? They were very fleshy, firm and lovely flavour. Very Very Happy with them last year.

I ordered these with some yellow Banana Legs tomato seeds. They arrived from Singapore in little plastic packets about three weeks later. There were no instructions with them and these tomatos were labelled simply "Italian plum tomatos" so I am not sure if I got the variety specified. I sowed both varieties in trays. The Banana Legs had terrific germination but the Italian plum tomatos' germination was slow and patchy. Both varieties will be ready for potting on soon, so we'll see what happens. The package contained a free gift - a dozen safflower seeds with no instructions. I had to look up the best way to germinate them and followed advice. So far only one has germinated - gee thanks!

Received ok but as with all seeds I have ordered I would have preferred a proper packet with growing instructions on. As an amateur gardener living in the North that would have been very helpful.

Came quickly and well packed.
Has been nearly 7 weeks and only 1 has sprouted out of 12. Other seeds from this seller have been great and all of the other varieties of tomatos are growing ok so maybe these have different temperature preferences. (I can imagin more heat is needed!)

The packet took over three weeks to reach me. I thought I had lost it for good. I sowed the seeds immediately in a controlled environment, so far the seeds have not yet germinated. Time will tell! I need to see the outcome before I use the same source again - all the way from Singapore!

I'm not sure these are the correct seeds, they were simply named as Italian tomato seeds, they are in a very hot greenhouse and well watered, very slow growing and to date the tomatoes seem very small.

Had moderate success with these seeds. Good plants, but not a huge crop of fruit. That might well be because the summer started so slowly. At any rate, I can confirm that the seeds sprout well and produce tasty tomatoes.
