It only took about 15 minutes to read this, and left a rather stereotypical impression that Thai girls are all money-hungry for a man who will take them out of the drudgery of what life for the masses means, using their bodies to entice guys into providing for them. Is it really typical, or just what the press reports? Not sure, but it certainly for me, wasn't erotic, just a bit...sad.
It didn't present the young Brit male in a great light, nor the older Aussie male, nor in fact the female, and I did wonder why the author had written such characters without seemingly any redeeming qualities, but it was very readable. Just not erotic or with any warmth, IMHO.
Having read the previous reviews I have to agree that it does portray Thailand realistically and I suppose a majority of Thai girls. If you have been to Thailand you will understand.
The story is well written. It flows extremely well and you will enjoy the main characters and the ease of their relationship.
I didn't expect the ending but in retrospect I think it adds to the the romance. Is it an erotic story? I suppose the good thing about it is that it can be as erotic as your imagination wants it to be.
I strongly recommend you read it and make up your own mind.
Stephen typically takes you on a journey where you know there will be a twist, but for me, the twist at the end of this one was totally unexpected, totally different to other tales he's written.
I loved the story and I thought the main characters were realistic enough to be believable.
