Yes, I read the blurb before starting this, but perhaps seeing the cover, I was hoping for more: real erotica and a bit of a romance. I got neither, but I did get a decently-written tale.

It only took about 15 minutes to read this, and left a rather stereotypical impression that Thai girls are all money-hungry for a man who will take them out of the drudgery of what life for the masses means, using their bodies to entice guys into providing for them. Is it really typical, or just what the press reports? Not sure, but it certainly for me, wasn't erotic, just a bit...sad.

It didn't present the young Brit male in a great light, nor the older Aussie male, nor in fact the female, and I did wonder why the author had written such characters without seemingly any redeeming qualities, but it was very readable. Just not erotic or with any warmth, IMHO.

A story of a man's lust for the beautiful young women of Thailand. The man's lust moves from the bar girls to dating girls from a dating web site. There is one woman who stands out and Thai culture intervenes to make for an intriguing erotic, romantic tragedy

A really surprising climax to this short story. Stephen Leather understands Thailand and expands the knowledge to create both great read short and long novels. If you have been to Thailand and know it well, then only the ending will surprise you, if not then you may have to suspend belief (buts it mostly true!). A really good read

I was about halfway into reading this book when I realised that this excellent story reminded me of the iconic Private Dancer.

Having read the previous reviews I have to agree that it does portray Thailand realistically and I suppose a majority of Thai girls. If you have been to Thailand you will understand.

The story is well written. It flows extremely well and you will enjoy the main characters and the ease of their relationship.

I didn't expect the ending but in retrospect I think it adds to the the romance. Is it an erotic story? I suppose the good thing about it is that it can be as erotic as your imagination wants it to be.

I strongly recommend you read it and make up your own mind.

A short story that gets you reading right to the end to discover the big surprising climax. An author that really understands Thailand and uses his craft to describe it so well. A really good read!

Beautifully written in an easy going, relaxed style, you don't realise the time passing as the storytelling draws you in.
Stephen typically takes you on a journey where you know there will be a twist, but for me, the twist at the end of this one was totally unexpected, totally different to other tales he's written.
I loved the story and I thought the main characters were realistic enough to be believable.
Thoroughly enjoyable.
