All Francoise Freedman's books are excellent and this latest is no exception. What is great about this book is that it is suitable for those who have practiced little or no yoga before and also for experienced yoginis. The book takes you safely through the three trimesters with mini sequences, explaining what muscles you are strengthening and stretching. Common complaints like sciatica and symphysis pubis disorder are also addressed. The beautifully shot photos make everything clear and easy to follow.
The book also takes you through the postpartum period. Unlike most books, this isn't just a small add on at the end of the book. Freedman gives several progressive mini routines to help realign the body and promote strength and vitality.
I can't recommend this book enough!

I attended a pregnancy yoga class but used this book extensively at home. I found doing a little yoga each day throughout my pregnancy helped me feel flexible, strong and calm. I had a great pregnancy and think this contributed a lot to it.
It's assumes no previous experience, explains everything really well and is helpfully split into each trimester. Just doing a couple of sequences a day (10-15 mins) helped and I did it right up to my delivery at 38 weeks. I would recommend this book to any pregnant ladies, whether they can attend a class or not.

I bought this book during the second trimester of my first pregnancy and found it excellent for adapting my yoga for pregnancy. As said in previous reviews, what gives this book the edge is that it takes you beyond the birth into 16 weeks afterwards. What is also good is that unlike many other books I have seen, the sequences in this book will appeal to those beginning yoga and already experienced in it as they feature various variatons of the same pose. Also good is the advice panals for each sequence, which inform the reader how it will benefit them and also if they should avoid the pose. I ended up having a c-section for my first child and this book in the postnatal section gives clear advice to when i could attempt each pose after it. I am know at the beginning of my second pregnancy and will be using it again.

Is so good because it gives the detail of the Indian names for the positions and their background, without lots of spiritual/sentimental blahblah. It's extremely practical because the graphics/photos and descriptions are so clear, it has exercises for every stage of pregnancy and after, and it points out which positions should perhaps be avoided if you have medical complications.

Well presented, not too detailed and easy to adsorb, this is a great book for those who have very little knowledge or some of yoga and want to adapt it for pregnancy and post-pregnancy. The instructions for the poses are easy to follow with clear photos and give guidance for both easy and advanced variations. Well worth the price.

This is a super book, I would definitely recommend this one, I love doing the exercises and think it's well organised divided into the different stages of pregnancy and then the after birth section is a real added bonus, super!!

I borrowed this book off a friend for my first pregnancy and it was so useful that for my second I decided to buy it. It has three sections for each trimester so you can start using it at any point and clear photos to help you follow the instructions safely and without any confussion. It helped me to put aside essential time for me and my baby and when everything else in pregnancy is so stressful and busy you need time to chill out and unwind. Would definately recommend this to all pregnant women!

This book is a useful guide for those wishing to start yoga in pregnancy or modify an existing practice. It gives clear instructions and is well illustrated. It is particularly nice in that it includes a section on post-natal yoga. The only downside in my view is that it doesn't include much information about pregnancy and birth from an anatomical/medical angle. Janet Balaskas's 'Preparing for Birth with Yoga' is good on this so I'd recommend looking at that book in conjunction with this one. A good yoga teacher is better than a book alone but Freedman's book is a handy and easy-to-use complementary source.
