I picked this up from my church library and found it so helpful and inspiring I knew I had to have my own copy. It's intended as a study guide for Lent, taking each Collect and looking at it in the context of the author's time as Dean of Westminster Abbey, (by the way, it's the introduction that's written by Alan Bennett, not the book).
This is for anyone interested in finding out about Christianity, or deepening their own understanding of this ancient faith and its relevance to today, with added interesting insights into how a large church intertwined with the State has yet managed to stay true to the faith it serves. It is also very personal and honest, genuinely moving, and I can't wait to start reading it again.

An old book, relatively speaking, but an excellent one!

This book is a must read for anyone who has visited Westminster Abbey. The author, who was Dean of the Abbey, gives on a good sense of the ebb and flow of life there.
