How I wish I'd had this in my toolbox when I was working in schools! I highly recommend this excellent set of practical exercises and activities for anyone working with children in primary schools. I'd suggest that it should be a must for anyone training to be a teacher or teaching assistant.
It will be most useful for teaching assistants and learning mentors, though I think teachers will find some helpful ideas in it too. Anyone running circle times or nurture groups will also get a lot from it.
Too often we think problems with recognising and understanding emotions only happen when children have special needs or specific issues. These issues can crop up for any child and the ideas in this book link very nicely to SEAL.
These exercises can be used 1-1 or with small groups. some of them could be adapted for larger groups.
The book is well laid out. You know just what you will need for each activity. You do not need to buy expensive equipment or resources to use with it.
I love having on the Kindle and I actually have it on my iPhone! That way it is easily to hand.

How customer reviews and ratings work
Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings, help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.

This wonderful book is a long list of wonderful activities for children to help them understand their anger and what to do with it. Each activity is described in a very user-friendly way, and needs very simple resources which you're very likely to have around the home/classroom anyway. Furthermore, the activities are such that children will enjoy doing them. I hold 1:1 sessions with young children to help them learn about their emotions, and I will be using the activities in this book to make those sessions more interactive and fun.

I recommend for ELSAs and teaching assistants helping children with emotional issues. All activities are adaptable, too, which is great.

Fantastic book.....as is Debbie's other one ( worth a look if you haven't got it). Invaluable ideas for my role as an ELSA in a primary school. Great to be able to dip in and out of something which takes some of the strain out of planning for sessions. Hoping Debbie will write some more.
