Practical Sustainability: Circular Commerce, Smarter Spaces and Happier Humans Kindle Edition
Enterprises are vital to our green future and fundamental to modern life, yet they fall short of their sustainable promise. The big question is not if we should address sustainability, but how. Practical Sustainability shows how we can solve half the wicked sustainability challenge in five years, using today’s technology – and then the rest through data-driven R&D. It also provides insights from carbon-neutral journeys and award-winning achievements. How? A heavy dose of science, systems design and digital twins, together with human factors and behavioral psychology that drive adoption.
Award-winning Practical Sustainability provides the first guide for sustainable business in the post-Covid age. It is an Amazon #1 best-seller, a Forbes' “must read,” and adopted by leading universities to anchor their sustainability curricula. Co-authors Corey Glickman and Jeff Kavanaugh are well-known as thought leaders in the field; they have been published in Harvard Business Review, presented at leading forums like the World Economic Forum and United Nations, and Kavanaugh previously authored the books The Live Enterprise and Consulting Essentials.
Practical Sustainability is the result of three years of research and collaboration. The authors interviewed dozens of global business, tech, and policy leaders, and also drew upon extensive original research and corporate data. They also detail how Infosys achieved carbon neutrality in 2020, a full 30 years ahead of the Paris climate agreement. Practical Sustainability contains specific recommendations and over 50 frameworks to help leaders implement their own sustainability journeys. It also contains over 340 annotated references for further study and action. Whether designing strategy, launching initiatives, or correcting course, Practical Sustainability will help readers deliver the ESG results and the bottom-line profitability we need for a sustainable future.

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 2 February 2022Format: Kindle EditionVerified PurchaseVery well-written and accessible book, with knowledgeable examples. Excellent practical discussion of sustainability with an emphasis on outcomes. It draws a clear arc from earlier times to where we are now. There is a focus on regeneration as an achievable goal now rather than an abstract concept that is far away.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 1 February 2022Format: Kindle EditionA cracking read in terms of prose, pace and practicality - and serious contribution to one of the key challenges of our age.
There's none of the sermonising and doom mongering often seen in this space, just practical advice on how business can deliver sustainability.
Not only is it rigorous, the book's eminently readable. The message is positive and, at times, life affirming too.
The authors open every chapter with a story from around the world - imagine a cross between Dan Brown and Bill Bryson - then focus on how they applied the underlying lesson to their world, then explain how we can apply it to ours.
...And this is what makes the book credible - it's practicality, the authors explaining in clear, accessible terms how they made sustainability work for their multi-billion dollar business.
I hope this book gets the exposure it deserves. It's a gem of the genre. If you're looking for a positive, practical route to sustainability, this is it.

This book provides a comprehensive view of the steps needed to embed a sustainability approach into the systems, digital and physical, that underpin the built environment's creation and operation, and it's a great way of starting your sustainability journey in this sector.

Format: Kindle EditionVerified PurchaseI recently finished reading the book “Practical Sustainability” and thoroughly enjoyed it. The book gave plenty of insights about the processes that were followed at Infosys to achieve Net-Zero. I am amazed by the detailed attention given to explain difficult concepts and aptly complemented by relevant and practical examples.
I never thought about Sustainability from the perspective of the place where we reside and how it shapes our thoughts and actions. However after reading your book, I got access to new lens to look at Sustainability that provides more holistic perspective. As an EHS professional, I am glad to come across such an insightful book that would help for rest of my career.
After all, we have only one PLANET and climate change is one of the biggest challenges for us. Your book would definitely guide many sustainability professionals to work towards fulfilling NET ZERO commitments of various organizations.

Krishnan ChatterjeeReviewed in India on 17 March 20225.0 out of 5 stars Abundance is not Infinity
Format: Kindle EditionVerified PurchaseI believe there are several perception shifting ideas in the book. The concept of Terra Preta – humans hacked evolution, the covid pause creating the possibility of the planet healing itself, Commerce, shelter and supply are the 3 fundamentals of economic activity. The biggest idea (the one I really loved) was the concept that abundance is not infinity. A breakthrough in the book is the concept of sustainability as a science based operating model, not just as a good to have – but something that will actually drive revenue and profit. This is superbly exemplified through the neo business concept of circular commerce on the back of experience, system of systems, regenerative future and the digital twin. Not only are we revealing new business models – but also the “how” is explained.
This book is an important read for business leaders who are contemplating the new economy and how fundamentally this will change their business models and the capabilities of their teams.
