I am a relative novice to watercolour painting. Of the 8 or so books on the subject that I own, this is my favourite. The book is broken into section that deal with techniques themes (colour theory, perspective, etc.) Each section finishes with a step-by-step tutorial that guides you to completion of a painting. My favourite thing about this book is that the tutorial subjects are easy enough to be accessible to a novice, without being too straightforward or boring (no painting fruit here!). Before the tutorial, each section contains various demonstration images that are also fairly simple and can be fun to copy.
As a consequence, this is the one book where I found myself looking forward to getting through the next section, which was great for motivating me to practice and learn.
