I bought this book because I wanted to find out more about the materials, but also how to prepare how to use the materials. The book contains a good amount of information, but I would have liked more technical information no how to prepare your base canvas/paper/etc to then begin using each type of paint. I would like to know more about the different types of medium and what each does. The book does mention media but not with the depth I would have liked.

It gives a beginner, like myself, an insight into the realm of these paints, but I felt it could have gone further into their technicalities rather than go on about painting exercises.
