It might work with general Android 2.3 as is installed on the Samsung Galaxy GT-I19100. However for 2 years now I use the latest stable Cyanogenmod builds on my phone to have access to Android 4.3 and in order to keep it fast and clean. With Cyanogenmod you can uninstall all google bloatware. the operating system is only a few MB so you have a lot of space even without external SD card.
The Anker battery is more powerful than the original samsung battery (1900mAh compared to 1000mAh). I was under the impression that the phone could deal with this, but after using the Anker the phone got extremely hot and shut down from time to time. I am not an electrician and probably this is an expected outcome given the differences in ampere-hours.
If you buy this, make sure your phone supports the extra current. It did not break my phone, but I had to switch back to the old battery. As some referees say it is fine with their phone, I cannot reject the hypothesis that it might be due to cyanogenmod who does not handle the extra power well. I would however never go back to standard android just because of this.
