Pat Travers has never made a bad album and this is no exception. A re-working of classic rock from some of the great rock artists including: Cream, Bad Company, Robin Trower, Mountain, Bob Dylan, etc. So often cover versions fail to match up to the originals but in this case the Pat Travers Power Trio has breathed new life into all the tracks on this album. As always, Pat's guitar playing is excellent and Aynsley Dunbar's drumming is fantastic. If you're serious about classic rock, you must buy this album.

HASH(0x8c5a2144) out of 5 stars What do you want? 8 Nov. 2005
By John Engstrom - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
This is an album of covers. Good to excellent covers of guitar driven power trios* of the past. There are covers of Tramp (Stray Dog), Day of the Eagle (Robin Trower), Young Man Blues (the Who), Highway 61 Revisited (Johnny Winter), etc.. Most of the covers stick close to the cited versions (not, in the case of Hwy. 61 & Young Man, to Dylan or Mose). Pat is in fine six string form, and so if waht you want is power trio covers, this album is for you. It's what I was looking for, hence the 4 stars.

If you are looking for more originality, more bluesy, something to break up the pounding, newer sounding, whatever. . . this album is not for you.

HASH(0x8c5a2198) out of 5 stars Get PT=MC2 instead (or as well!) 23 Jan. 2006
By Moth - Published on Amazon.com

I'd say the truth is somehere between the more extreme opinions here.

They're good covers, some VERY good, & Pat's great, but they are just covers. Get his last album of actual PT songs instead - it's excellent 'proper' Travers. Or, better for Pat, get both!

In my opinion, PT=MC2 (as in 'squared') and 'Just a Touch' show that he's far from 'washed up'!!!!

love

HASH(0x8caa9870) out of 5 stars PT Rocks Again! (Finally) 20 Mar. 2004
By Brian Bayne - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
First we finally get Puttin It Straight (from 1977)released on CD, then this fantastic hard rockin' release for one of the all time guitar gods. I don't know what happened to PT in 2003, but I'm glad he got rid of his case of the "blues" and came back to his roots. With this lineup and some of the genius of his original songs, the next CD could be the comeback we have been waiting for.
Until then put on the one of the best versions of HWY 61 Revisited ever recorded.

HASH(0x8c5a2420) out of 5 stars AWESOME! 9 April 2008

Absolutely awesome! I agree with Brian, glad PT dumped the blues thing and got back to rock. Some of these covers are IMHO better than the originals, "White Room" for example. PT is among a select few who can make other's songs his own. Well recorded too. He sounds as good as he did in the 70s, go PT!

HASH(0x8c5a23c0) out of 5 stars Kicks Major Butt 19 May 2003
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com

I haven't heard Pat Travers since college days. My wife and I decided to take a "flyer" on this one. It turned out to be a great purchase. Forget about the fact that this is made up of 100% cover tunes. The material is classic and the playing is unforgettable. You'll be singing these tunes all day long! Pat Travers has put together one of the hardest rocking "power trios" ever. This music and the virtuosity of musicianship puts 99% of the "new music" out there to shame. If you're looking for an incredibly intense straight ahead rock album...you've found it
