I have been on a journey of physical self-healing since 2009, of which took considerable time and research to collate all the necessary information to integrate such into my daily life. The learning curve duration was two years, and of course - some subjects were studied more closely than others, achieving sheer mastery in some areas, and touching the surface in others. What is so notable in "The Power of A Self-Healing" is the vast collation of information that brings the more physical aspects of self-healing into integrated synthesis. As I read on through this well researched book, I commenced some self-talk on how much time this would have saved me, had this book been published at the beginning of my journey. Although, as I said, I have entered into some subjects with more intense study, "The Power of Self-Healing" nonetheless gives one a vast overview of the entire process, allowing you to picture where you are moving forward into with mental clarity, rather than blundering through in the dark, hoping all the threads you are seizing are leading you to a desired end result. My own end result has been fabulous, giving me an entirely new outlook on life. Even on days I choose to indulge and throw out my new rule book, it is so much easier to get back on track, and I know deeply within me that I have not abandoned the path, as my knowledge of all that is good is so great, this simply would never happen, and I know the effects of over indulgence.

The chapter on Self-Healing Foods was so familiar, as this is the main area I have studied for two years. It is an imperative consideration, as it is the most opportune way by which we can heal our body, through the regular consumption of healthy food, preferably organic.

I was sent this as a digital copy for review by the publishers. The field is one I have a great interest in, and my bookshelves groan with some excellent books on this subject.

This one, I find, is OK. Some very good things, some intensely annoying

PROs. It is a practical and friendly book, and the style is easy. Perhaps a bit too hula hoop ra ra ra for my taste. 'Dr Fab(!)' is not really saying anything which hasn't been said before, and for my money, there are a couple of much better writers out there, saying the same stuff, with rather more impeccable referencing

Personally, when claims are made, I like to be able to see the sources of the information. My favourite, populist, clear and unfussy writers on food as medicine are Earl Mindell (very prolific) and Jean Carper. Both give more information to enable me to go off and search for the studies.

CONS
Sadly, the main problem I had with this book was that the marketing of it was overdone - when 5% of the book on the Kindle was taken up with quote after breathless quote from some people I had heard of and a lot of people I hadn't, 'sliced breading' this, I had lost a lot of interest before I even started. One fulsome song of praise is good, two probably better, but when they run into hundreds I'm afraid my cynic's rictus grin becomes a little fixed

I guess a paper copy would be better than the Kindle - easier to navigate away from what you DON'T want, and get to the meat (or at least the fruit and vegetables)

Contained nothing that was ground-breaking. Has numerous case studies that stress the benefits of chiropractic therapy. I am not anyway decrying this therapy, but there are others. The health care information is suited to the USA, in the UK you would probably go to a Osteopath, having used this service would have no hesitation in recommending this therapy.

When it comes to dietary information read "the Plan" by Lyn-Genet Recitas, this is a must read. From reading and following the information in "the Plan" I found that I have an intolerance to salmon and prawns, both of which I love. I also have an intolerance to milk products, in particular yoghurt, even plain. By using the information in "the Plan" in four months I lost four inches from around my waist, yet only 2 lbs weight. I knew I was near my ideal body weight with a 41 inch chest and 31 waist not bad for a nearly 67 year old male.

I have only just begun to read this book and I bought it after seeing it mentioned, positively, in an online article in The Ecologist. It is very life affirming and full of information about healthy living, including information about food additives and the importance of organic food. It is an American book and if someone with an informed scientific background read it they would query some of the assertions but there are references for each chapter so I think the book would be a good starting place for anyone interested in improving their lifestyles and, perhaps, making life changing decisions.
