HASH(0x92048648) out of 5 stars A major achievement 17 April 2010
By Bill Berkowitz - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
Tom Wolff's The Power of Collaborative Solutions is a major achievement. It brings together lessons learned from the author's 30 years of hands-on experience in developing collaborative solutions with an especially broad range of community groups. I am personally familiar with much of this work and can vouch for its effectiveness.

Readers of this book will learn not only technical skills -- and skills that really matter -- but also a general attitude and approach to doing community work (one might call it "spiritual") that they'll rarely find anywhere else. The book is well designed, engaging to read, and likely to make a lasting positive difference for those who consider its lessons carefully. Very highly recommended.

I only ordered this book because I was told I have to have it. Most of the time I find the books to be cheaper on Amazon than with the school or their book stores. Make sure you shop before using the schools to obtain the materials you need to complete your courses. This is a college book that I had to order to fulfill my class work. The book provided the information I needed to complete the entire task assigned by the facilitator. To most people there will be nothing special about this book. And I would imagine that if you are buying this book you are not doing so out of fun. Good luck in your future courses and positions. May all your classes bring you much knowledge.

HASH(0x92048978) out of 5 stars Excellent Resource for Engaging Communities 29 Jun. 2011
By Chris Michael Kirk - Published on Amazon.com

I originally read this book as part of a course in Community Psychology. As a student interested in working with communities to create sustainable change, I found the book to be a very useful and practical resource. The Community Stories helped us translate the powerful principles into the real world examples, and the helpful tools found throughout the book were invaluable. Since taking the course, I've found myself pulling this book off the shelf on several occasions to help me think about my work with community groups
