We have all experienced unexplainable occurrences - such as thinking about an old friend just before the phone rings and it happens to be that old friend. Many people have had bizarre dreams which days or even years later seem to have been a premonition of actual events. And there are meaningful coincidences or, in the parlance of Jung, synchronicities, that span generations - such as the fascinating parallels involving John F. Kennedy and Abraham Lincoln."The Power of Coincidence" reveals that such occurrences are not merely insignificant episodes of random chance, but are important pieces in the puzzle of our lives. If we solve the riddle of these mysterious occurrences, their meanings can have a positive impact. Author Frank Joseph shows us how to recognize instances of meaningful coincidence and also provides a simple method for decoding them. Including practical guidance as well as a wealth of examples from real-life stories, he explores the various dimensions of synchronicity - such as precognitive and shared dreams, numbers, telepathy, parallel lives and everyday coincidences."The Power of Coincidence" shows how synchronicity can become an important adjunct in our lives, a trans formative force for good with the potential to increase our understanding of our selves and the universe we inhabit.
About the Author
Frank Joseph is the editor-in-chief of Ancient American, a popular science magazine focusing on possible journeys to the Americas pre-Columbus, and author of The Destruction of Atlantis, The Lost Pyramids of Rock Lake and Sacred Sites of the West. A scuba diver and member of the Underwater Archaeological Society, Joseph has combined research in libraries across the world with many diving expeditions to produce this book.

Sadly Joseph's interpretations are anything but meaningful, and instead resemble uncritical, careless regurgitation of assorted superstitions without anything resembling analysis. Joseph more often than not gives you long, unconvincing lists of supposedly meaningful but actually banal and unconvincing anecdotes (his section on numbers, or his claims that the Etruscans had it right all along with entrail-augury, are two particular favourites), paying little to no attention to the historical place and reasonable validity of his reports, cherry-picking examples that only the blithest of readers would swallow.
I picked this book up hoping to get an up-to-date view on the topic of Synchronicity, but for the time being I would strongly advise anyone with any interest in this topic to stick with the older literature (Arthur Koestler - The Roots of Coincidence, Carl Jung - Synchronicity: An Acausal Connecting Principle, J.w. Dunne - An Experiment with Time), until such a time when a serious, intrepid, scientifically inquisitive work is composed (such a work may already exist, for all I know, but it is certainly not this book).
I'm glad I only paid 99 pence for the Kindle version and not thrown away the full ten pounds- my synchronicity must have kicked in hard on that day (after all, 99 is 66 upside down, right Frank?).
