I purchased all the necessary fabric and insulation to make the pot holder depicted on the front cover and on page 10.
I was so enthusiastic as I intended to make several in colours to match my new kitchen.
Fortunately, I started trying to make the petals first and hadn't cut any other fabric. I quite liked the idea of petals standing a little proud of the holder.
WHAT A DISASTER !
I carefully traced 12 petals onto the doubled fabric, placed a piece of insultion underneath - all as instructed - stitched all 12 and carefully cut them out leaving the botom of the petal open. Could anyone explain to me how to turn the petals inside out ? It is IMPOSSIBLE. The design doesn't allow for turning so much fabric through such a small opening. This is also true for the petals on page 5, the strawberry leaf on page 23 and the apple leaf on page 26. If anyone has a solution for this problem I would welcome it.
I just received it yesterday so not made any thing yet and I've only been doing Applique and making things recently so easy for a beginner to try
I did do a oven mitt last week following Debbie's book which looks basic to this book but never made my own binding so will give it ago a walking foot would be good I've been going to buy one for a while so will now invest in one
My neighbour has now also purchased a copy and she is a serious quilter/sewer and loves the clarity and pictures.
