There are many dispensers available and they are often bundled up for little (or no) additional cost with a multi pack of Z-notes. Unless you use a dispenser, there is actually no difference to the user between Z-notes and the ordinary sort, so if you don't want to have a dispenser I would stick with the cheaper ordinary notes. However, the dispenser increases the utility of the notes and ensures that you can always find them when you need them, which is a priceless attribute if your desk looks like mine does.
In all other respects, they are the standard yellow Post-it notes that have been around for decades - they are packaged in a recyclable cardboard box, and seem reasonably priced
You can tell the difference between these and the non recycled, the colour is more muted and the paper is fractionally rougher. However, really, it's only a very minor difference, you'd dismiss it as a "different batch" if it wasn't being sold as recycled.
They come in a cardboard box and have no plastic wrapping so overall they feel a lot better for the environment in that respect, although the glue probably is still artificial and not made of quinoa or whatever. But, reading the side of the box it seems they've thought about that too - it does use 60% renewable plant glue! Not sure what the other 40% is but apparently that's renewable too. They actually do stick as well as the usual post-its, and smell the same too so I'm wondering if the glue is vastly different anyway.
Overall I'd say the recycled ones would be a preferred choice when buying in future, it seems sensible and they're easier to open and store well in the cardboard box.
I suppose really you need to make sure you recycle them too after you finish, then the cycle is complete!
3M recycled Z-notes are made from recycled paper and packaged in cartons made from 100% recycled paper. You get 100 canary yellow sheets, measuring 76mm x 76mm per pad, and this multi-set comprises of six pads. They're designed to be used in the Z-Note dispenser, which you can see via this link - Post-it 76x76 mm Stone Shaped Z-Notes Dispenser with 1 Pad of Post-it Z-Notes - Canary Yellow - but there's absolutely no necessity for you to get it. I simply have them as pads, and they're great to carry in your pocket and bag as well as at home on your desk, phone table or kitchen table.
The sticky strip isn't quite as strong as other pads I've used, but these still stay up when you put them on a board or other dry and smooth surface, ad they don't leave a mark when you peel them back off.
At this price, I think this multi-pack is good value, and it allows you to distribute the pads in most of the places where you might need them. Very convenient, and very useful.
Other than the fact that the section of the Post-It notes alternates between each end, the concept of the Z-Notes is exactly the same as regular Post-It notes, in that they have exactly the same sticking ability, they are the same size and indeed, in this particular case, are exactly the same colour as the most commonly available Post-It notes.
Z-Notes can, of course, be used without the dispenser but I wouldn't personally recommend it, not only because they tend to be more expensive than purchasing the regular Post-It notes equivalent, but also because they are less convenient i.e. you will need to keep on rotating the pad, to ensure that you are always writing on the pads, the right way up.
In summary, great concept but only buy if you have, or intend to purchase, the Z-Notes dispenser.

Peels well with no sticky residue. They unpeel in a concertina effect. There are 6 blocks in a pack. They fold back easily which is much easier than peeling them off in a pack. Read morePublished 19 days ago by xenofan

I use these in a Z dispenser. The z type alternate top to bottom in how they fasten together. Comparing them to non recycled I see no reason not to get them. Read morePublished 25 days ago by Mr. Jon Forster
Very sticky and I mean that, we use a lot of these at work and they actually last. No more hunting around for notes that have fallen off!Published 26 days ago by Sheona
