I commend the author for writing about a sensitive topic and how she handled it with sensitivity, care and hope....a topic that should not be ignored. I enjoyed how the story was told in dual points of view from Paige and Declan as it gives you more of an understanding and realization about each character and the situation at hand. The appreciation of art was depicted through both Paige's and Declan's feelings and always told a story, a story of life and love in itself. The family dynamics were especially intriguing and it was nice to see how they were there to always love and support each other.
I highly recommend this beautiful read as it is filled with hope, honesty, forgiveness, trust but mostly love between two people that was worth fighting all the demons for.
I was brought into the world of Declan and Paige and watched them deal with everything thrown at them. At times they dealt with things so badly, letting their insecurities and the 'rights and wrongs' of their choices eat away at them. I love the way their artistic minds made them see situations in colours, it melted my heart. They can feel moods radiating in colour and memories are either light or dark colours. I found this really fascinating.
Declan's brothers, Liam and Kieran look after him and have his back throughout their lives, as their Dad is an alcoholic waste of space. I would love to see them get their own stories too. I feel that I know everything about Declan and Paige.
Declan and Paige met at high school, they shyly get to know each other for a few years and then something breaks them. Things don't go well for these two but they never get over each other completely. Nine years later they meet again, can the past be forgotten? Can they get over the hurt from all those years ago?
I felt the powerful connection between these two. So will you.
A Book Lover’s Emporium
But, take a fantastic story, add in amazing characters that I loved so damn hard, writing that made me hurt when Declan and Paige hurt, cry when they cried, grieve when they grieved, laugh when they laughed, felt love and joy when they did ..... yep, the writing is that good I was wrecked from all the emotion that I felt.
Their journey to their happy wasn't an easy one, they had to claw and fight just to breathe through their pain at times. And this is where the author really shone, she is a medical professional and knows her stuff and it showed. It HURT to read what Declan had to live with, and where that man would've been without his brothers Liam and Kieran is anyone's guess! The author really nailed his mental health issues without boggling my brain.
There is a trigger that may be an issue for some, however I felt the author dealt with it so sensitively and wasn't brushed away. Dec and Paige were tortured for years for something that happened when they were just school kids.
Possession is by far my best read of 2017, and then some! It was utter perfection.

They both were their first since 14 years old everything yet at the age of 18, their paths diverge . They come back in each other's lives after 8 years , changed yet somehow still the same .
They are like two magnets that can't fight the pull and gravitate towards each other . I loved the fact that Declan does seek medical help to curb (not eliminate ) the voices he hears in his head . Liam and Kieran are amazingly written characters and you can literally touch the strength emanating from Liam in helping his brother . It focuses on love and family and how something that is beautifully broken that still sustain and flourish .
Fast forward years later Paige and Declan are trying again and give each other a second chance as neither can walk away from one another. But in order to make it work they must forget the past and Declan must silence the silence the voices in his head. They must risk everything.
The characters are so vivid for so vivid and you feel how each other is feeling.
