    Fill level gauge is too dark to see how much water/ice is there. The water leaks out of the front vent regulally due to not being in a sort of sealed container, which given the amount of unused space inside could easily be done. Very poor design. It is far too noisy, even on night mode, to allow any sleep to take place, it doesnt cool very well either. If what your after is a glorified computer fan and a mild spitting of water (only if you are less than 2ft away) go ahead and buy it. Anything else dont bother. I though at nearly £30.00 this would be okay, how I was wrong. I now looking at is would only see this in the cheap isle of a discount shop for about £10.00. Utterly useless, feels flimsy, horrible.

    This was a test purchase to see if it would be better than a conventional desk fan. I use a pc alot during the year and in summer its a nightmare. At any given time i will have at least 3 fans on - but with this and 1 desktop fan (usb) i didnt need the other two.
    This works by using a mini fan to cool air using evaporating water - you put water in the bottom of the cube and as it evaporates the mini fan cools it. The effect is that the room becomes cooler over time. If you close the windows and shut the door and use this, the room becomes alot cooler in just under an hour.
    I imagine larger versions work better, but this is perfect for me and im in a 14x14 room with direct sunlight on the main window for half the day. The humidifier function on this basically sprays an incredibly fine mist constantly - not enough to make anything damp, but enough that the air cools it - a freezing effect.
    It will work from a pc USB slot, but mine doesnt turn on consistantly - i believe mine is damage as it will not use the 2nd or 3rd fan speed, it simply turns off. I will be buying another one however, as even this one is better than my giant desk fan.

    No comparison to aircon, but a noticeable cooling effect, especially with fogging and using chilled water. Sadly it began stopping at random intervals after the first day. Return was no hassle, and I'll probably buy another to see if I was just unlucky to receive a defective one.

    This product is a nice idea. You fill up the reservoir at the bottom of the device with water and the water is drawn up into a filter. A fan at the back of the unit blows air over the filter which cools it. Not a great range at low speed (and given the noise it makes you probably won't want it at 'medium' or 'high' settings) but decent for a desk. You can add ice to the reservoir to make it a little cooler. There is an extra misting function which provides a pleasant stream of cooling mist.

    But - it loses marks for the noise, which as other users have pointed out is quite loud even at the 'low' setting and additionally, the misting function on my unit failed after just a couple of uses which is disappointing.

    OK so for £30 I wasn't expecting my room to suddenly become like the North pole. BUT I live in a small flat so to get one of those grand big machines in my room just seemed over kill . . . . How wrong I was. I first tried the fan which seemed like any other regular fan with 3 speeds. I went to fill the free ice cube tray but the dolls house sized ice tray provided didn't seem worth the bother so put my own human sized ice cube trays worth of ice cubes in. So for about half an hour I did indeed get a cool bit of air . . . . It then eases off and within about an hour and a half to 2 hours it needs refilling.
    So I admit it's about 30 outside so feels like I'm living in a volcano but for what this thing advertises please unless you literally live in a dolls house don't buy this thing. Refilling it with a whole tray of ice cubes about every two hours is just not worth the grieve, the humidifier just looks like barbie vaping in the corner but makes the water dissappear even quicker than the regular fan, the noise isn't the worst I've heard but how someone in there review said they had it on there bedside table is just beyond me as it sounded like an airplane engine in my ear. I'd be dubious of using it at work as well unless you work in a noisey environment but a general office it would not be suitable and people would think you have a hoover in your cubicle. And as previously stated unless you have an office the size of a cleaning cuboard this thing isn't gonna do a hell of a lot other than annoy you with noise and get you the sack messing around with ice cubes every two hours.
    Weirdly after using the humidifier it wont even let me use the third setting of the fan. The humidifier has one speed but even turning that off the fan just turns itself off if you go to third setting???
    So while I now hang around in Iceland for about an hour simply to buy a loaf of bread in this heat i contemplate those more expensive tall tower units which I first thought would be over kill. This noise box from some kind of hellraiser movie is being sent back!

    I used this for a few days when it was really hot and it helped so much. So refreshing, and really easy to use. I found though when I came to use it a month later the air smelled a bit less fresh coming out of it and I was worried that I might have grown mold in it and was spreading spores around.

    Would recommend making sure it's thoroughly dried out before putting away, even if it's just for a couple of days.

    Also there's no separation between the water at the bottom and the main mechanism so it's hard to clean.
