Update: Over 1 YEAR LATER.
This thing is still going strong, I didn't expect much from this cheap and cheerful product, but it still works great. Have dropped it a few times whilst moving furniture around and it still works as good as new.

Pros: Worked great, just what I needed. Needed a few more Ethernet ports and this was perfect, internet speed is the same, ping is the same, it's small.

Cons: One port was a big dodgy though and the LED lights which indicate which ports are being used aren't clear.

I was suffering connection dropouts on 2nd PC which was wireless, so bought this little box of tricks and its perfect. Currently have 2 PCs, 1 x Win 7 and 1 x XP hooked up to it in 1 bedroom which connects to my router through the ceiling and into another room. I am using a 20mb fibre optic connection and I get 18-20mb connection on both PCs (not at peak times though).
Don't buy a cable splitter!!! (see my other review) you can't connect 2 PCs to 1 cable.

Gave me the extra channels I needed

Having a new DVD player than could be linked to my network, I needed an extra channel. I already had a cable connected to the TV, so needed a switch that allowed me to connect both. The switch is small enough to site behind the TV and has a power supply that plugged into the extension socket that I was using for the other equipment.
It worked immediately I had plugged everything in and it does the job for which I wanted it.

I bought this to isolate industrial Ethernet devices from my laptop, having just had to replace a motherboard due to stray voltages leaking out of a device. This switch fits the bill perfectly with low cost, small size and full Ethernet comatibility. I like to travel light so I like the fact that the device and its power supply are small and light. LEDs make it easy to see what's going on.

I planned to use this switch to extend my network to other parts of the house, in conjunction with a powerline plug. The plug works great on it's own, as do all the devices that I've connected to it without the switch.

However, with this switch attached up, after a few days, everything slows down to a crawl and then just lose connectivity entirely. I think my specific set up may play a part here, so I'm not going to completely slam it as it works for others.

Just keep in mind that it's a cheap box, and there may be certain configurations that it doesn't work so well with.

I tried to use this product for a week, but ended up sending it back. Ports would function intermittently and I had the impression that my overall network speed declined disproportionately. Have to say that it was not connected directly to my router, but to a LAN over mains (power) network. Not sure whether this caused adverse interference, but I had no use for it at router level.

I've also been supplied with a unit where the first downlink port does not work. Given that Richard Whitfield complained of this 3 months ago - it begs the question why DIGIFLEX are still shipping them when it presumably knows of the fault. Unlike Richard - I will not pay for something that is not as advertised - so have arranged for a refund.
