Couldn't find many sleeves this big, which is always going to be the case as there aren't many Laptops this big. Have had this sleeve for a long time now, and it work brilliantly. Zips have never failed. Stitching is still in tact. And overall it feels like it is still relatively new despite being used heavily for almost a decade. Would absolutely recommend.

Although bought 'second hand', in pristine condition, speedy delivery. Accurate description on Amazon UK site; good reviews on Amazon USA.

Fits the Dell Precision M6600 Workstation Laptop as if tailor made: Inside dimensions seem to be 44cm (17,25")wide, 29cm (11,5")top to bottom, 3cm (1,25") 'thick', i.e. about the size of the Dell. Single inside compartment with 2 top zips that go 2/3 of the way down the sides ( with a 4cm / 1,5" wide inside flap to prevent the zip from scratching the laptop case - possibly reducing the chance of the laptop slipping out if the zips were not fully closed ) ; not a true 'clamshell'- can't operate laptop in the bag; it has to be lifted-out. No handle. The M6600 is 42 x 28 x 4 cm; there is sufficient space for the Gyration Airmouse keyboard, or similar, to accompany the laptop.

An additional 'rear' top-zipped compartment is 43cm (17") wide x 23cm (9") top-to-bottom, and can snugly fit an A4 exam pad; or even the M6600 E-Port Docking Station, together with either the Accuratus trackball Keyboard, or the 240w Dell power adaptor (in which case the mainslead needs to fit in the main compartment). This would gently stretch the spongy sleeve-material, but not unduely so; any 'sharp corners' cause the fabric to look 'flattened' temporarily; like furniture on a new carpet, but this seems to be a characteristic of sleeves.

Naturally, laptops are listed by their diagonal screen-size; which makes it tricky to select the 'right' 17" sleeve. The Dell is called 17,4" (visible screen diagonal) - actual case diagonal is about 49,5cm (19,5") - most largescreen laptops seem to be 'widescreen'; it's always worth measuring the size, and the 'thickness' with the battery you will use (some laptops allow you to use an 'extended' 9 cell; mandatory with many 17" sets).
Size comparison: the Duro Gadget M6600 sleeve (less classy, but cheaper) fits snugly inside this Port Designs Sleeve, two of which, side-by-side, fit in the excellently styled Belkin 18,4" Laptop Bag...I don't expect to need that excessive level of padding. I'm using the sleeves to protect expensive cordless keyboards (all the units are in use in class, trying to simulate an interactive-whiteboard), and the nylon Belkin holds everything: 8 - 18 kg in total. I lubricate all zips with silicon spray (e.g. CarPlan DD). All items from Amazon.co.uk. It is worth remembering that the largest investment is often the software, which is not always transferable to replacement hardware drives, so even with SSDs mechanical protection is worthwhile.

Not much to say about this except that it does the job. 18.6 inch laptop is pretty big. I was keeping it in its box but that was becoming a pain to dig out and use. I own a netbook which is effortless to dig out of its sleeve. So this is now easily accessed. There is a front zip compartment to put your charger and mouse.
Without a handle it needs to be in a secure place and pulled out carefully as its a pretty heavy laptop inside. Its can be a bit slippery but you'll sense that anyway when you pick it up. The bag I personally think is only for indoor use. You can't walk around london holding your huge laptop with two hands in front of your chest for long:)

I thought this would have a strap for carrying it or at least a handle - it does not. It is not sufficient in itself to carry this around rendering it of very little benefit. It may protect the laptop from being scratched but I cannot see the use for it. I have a 18.4inch wide screen laptop and getting a bag is not easy.

Big John has this wrong, it was never meant as a bag for carrying, its a skin for protection, and in that respect it does exactly what it says. It's thick (ish) neoprene which seems pretty hard to mark let alone rip. It feels very well stitched together and contains your laptop within flaps inside the zip compartment preventing accidental fallout if you forget to zip it up. Also has a handy little zip pocket for documents on the front. Only just got it, but fits my Acer 18" like a glove and protects it from knocks in my hand luggage when travelling, or moving it around between work places.

Great for protecting my Acer laptop. Really good and strong material. Protects my laptop well from scratches andgive it that bit of extra shock protection.

Super! Nur leider keine Möglichkeit das teil ordentlich zu halten, da ja ein 18' Laptop recht schwer ist und Neopren nicht gerade griffig...

3.0 out of 5 stars Groß ja - gut gedämpft gegen Stöße eher nicht
