Product Description

Polycraft GP-3481F Silicone is a Condensation Cure Mould Making Rubber

High strength silicone mould making rubber. Our silicone has been formulated for easy mixing by hand, with colour coded components (red or green) giving a visual aid to ensure mixing is adequate. The two components mix easily and because of the low viscosity most grades can be used without processing in a vacuum chamber. This silicone is suited for the detailed reproduction of figures, art objects and similar items.

FC-6600 / FC-6620 / FC-6630 / FC-6666 Polyurethane resins are not suitable to be used with condensation cure silicone, these resins must be used with addition cure silicone mould making rubber.

Outstanding release properties
Long working time
Medium Hardness
High tear resistance
High elasticity for easy removal of complex replica parts
Can be made thixotropic (non flowable) for vertical surface replication

Red silicone catalyst is by far the most popular catalyst to use with the GP-3481-F silicone, it gives great air release with longer working and demould times.

I had no experience with RTV silicone previously just watched some videos on U Tube. It all looked quite simple and I needed to make what I thought were some fairly simple moldings. Turns out the moldings were actually quite complex but have to say that the RTV silicone was the simplest part of the process. Easy to follow instructions, simple to weigh out and mix in tihe right proportions and it litterally does what it said on the tin. Could not have been simpler. Actually able to make some pretty complex molds, including two part molds for some complex castings. May be beginners luck but certainly can not blame the tools.

This stuff is brilliant and easy to mix but has potential to be messy when weighing out the ingredients. Particularly the catalyst which is very runny until mixed in and can spill down the side of the bottle quite easily. The design flaw could be fixed with a nozzle end to these little bottles perhaps. For making moulds for resin projects it's great and creates a nice smooth finish inside and outside the mould, beware of air bubbles though if not using a vacuum chamber. Many people don't have one and I know I don't so it's good to pour a thin stream from a great height to reduce air bubbles while filling the cast-slowly.

Really good and easy to use, I recommend going on youtube and watch a few tutorial of good example where people already know what their doing for your silicone mould. The material it self is very flexible and perfect for your projects and experiments.

Great stuff. Takes a while to set (12 hours). I watched you tube videos on how to get the best results. It worked brilliantly and has created a permanent mould we can reuse whenever we like.
