Product Description

Collection of all seven films from the highly successful comedy series. In 'Police Academy' (1984), a new mayor offers a motley crew of misfits the chance to oil the wheels of justice when he lifts the restrictions that normally apply for recruiting new members to the police force. The academy has the onerous task of knocking them into law-enforcing shape. 'Police Academy 2 - Their First Assignment' (1985) sees six of the inept recruits being transferred to another precinct, where the lieutenant's promotion depends on them flunking their training course. They also face trouble on the streets in the form of a gang of sociopaths, led by a psychobabbling lunatic. In 'Police Academy 3 - Back in Training' (1986), the police budget is being cut, so one of the two training academies faces the chop. It's up to the former graduates of Commandant Lassard (George Gaynes)'s academy to save their old training ground. In 'Police Academy 4 - Citizens On Patrol' (1987), our rookie cops try to involve the local community in order to prevent crime. However, their efforts are thwarted by Captain Harris (G. W. Bailey) who is determined to scupper the plans of the group which has caused him so much trouble in the past. 'Police Academy 5 - Assignment Miami Beach' (1988) sees Commandant Lassard finally reach retirement age. The whole gang fly down to Miami to watch him receive an award. The only problem is that he's picked up the wrong bag at the airport and is now in possession of some stolen diamonds belonging to a bunch of crooks. In 'Police Academy 6 - City Under Siege' (1989), a criminal holds the city to ransom by masterminding a spate of burglaries and fraud. To make matters worse, the rookie cops have a plan to stop him. 'Police Academy 7 - Mission to Moscow' (1994) sees the fabled police team helping out in post-Soviet Union Russia. The Russians have a problem on their hands when Mafia godfather Konali (Ron Perlman) hatches a plan to control the entire world via an addictive computer game. The fate of the planet lies in the police academy's hands, much to the planet's concern...

At last all 7 Police Academy films are together in one collection:
Police Academy (1984) - It was 2o years ago that the first film was released in what would be a very popular series. The entire film is here with a behind the scenes "Where are they now" extra added to the disk (boy have some of them aged a bit!!!).
If you have never seen this film then you must watch it. Posibly one of the funniest films of the 80's bar none. Join Mahoney, Jones, Tackleberry, Hightower in a laugh a minute movie.
Police Academy 2: Their First Assignment (1985) - The recruits are let loose on the streets of America with hilarious results as they try to stop a gang led by Zed from causing havoc. We are also introduced to Mowser and Proctor, two who play pivital parts in the series. The disc also includes a behinds the scenes making over section.
Police Academy 3: Back in Training (1986) - Commandant Lassard's academy is under threat from Mowser's when it is declared only one academy can remain open. This means action is needed. Lasard calls on mahoney, Jones, Hightower and co to help keep the academy open by training recruits like Zed, who was the baddy in the last film. The results are hilarious. Again this includes a behind the scenes guide.
Police Academy 4: Citizens on Patrol (1987) - Lasard's plan is to start a C.O.P plan (Citizens on Patrol). To do this he enrols Mahoney and the gang to train the recruits whilst Harris and Proctor try their hardest to stop the scheme going ahead. Again this includes a behind the scenes guide.
Police Academy 5: Assignment: Miami Beach (1988) - Commandant Lassard has passed the retirement age and therefore must retire. In his honour it is decided that he will be honoured at a policeman's ball in Miami.

The later Police Academy films aren't as good as the earlier ones, although they are still better than the rubbish that passes for comedy these days. I was impressed that every one of the seven films had special features, with cast and crew reminiscing on all seven. Better films don't have such good interviews!

Good value for a start and sadly Mahoney was lost as a character in the later films. The characters did age from when they fist made the original to the last, it was quite notable however they still played their parts well and kept true to the wit of their character. Sadly the wit was dating a bit towards the later films. Police academy was however a success and you get all 7 films. It wouldn't surprise me that they do a remake of the original at some stage and some of us older folk would take a trip to the local cinema.

I paid 60 quid for this set when first released around 6 years back, seriously! If your a Police Academy fan they're not going to get much cheaper than this-its a great set! The films start of great but do go downhill fast after Steve Guttenberg left the series. Theres special features on all 7 of these DVDs,and all are presented in widescreen apart from Police Academy 5.

I have to admit I only bought it for bad times whne I feel i might need a good laugh and haven't even unpacked the box yet. The movies are most likely known by everyone who ever needed a godo laugh. It is smart, witty and a bit dumb comedy at times, that will get you laughing no matter. As with every movie that was initially intended as one movie, but then got sequel and sequel and a few more sequels, the movies never were Oscar-worthy, but they didn't need to. I believe their concept was never to make you think about stuff, but just... make you laugh and give you a good time. they kept the whole idea trough all 7 films, althought they exchanged more or less most of the originally cast by the time they reached the 7th film. Which is admittedly a bit sad. The 7th nevertheless worked as well - althought not sure how successful it was. If you are having a down day, need a good laugh or just want a good time for a few hours - this is your movie.

Never seen these films but wanted something innocent and humorous to while away the night
they are like extended comedy episodes - a sort of american carry on series where actors come back in different guises. light hearted fun - though amazed at some non-Pc language.
A load of enjoyable characters engaged in larks & stunts. Enjoyable for what it is!

Gone of the days where I had to go to a video rental store with my mum to watch these! I was nowhere near old enough to watch them but she allowed it. They are so silly they should be awful, but they aren't. They are classics now. 1-4 are my favourites because of Mahoney!
