Along with the ability to easily upload images to any social media platform, the Z2300 combines a compact form factor with a host of fun, easy-to-use features to create the ultimate social media machine.
Imagine a camera that lets you choose any of five picture qualities, gives you a 6-power zoom lens, an external LCD color monitor, 32MB of internal and 4GB of external storage, three choices of compression quality, a 5-mode flash strobe, three choices of picture metering, seven methods of white balancing, smile detection, time stamping, and then, when all those parameters come together for an exposure, the camera prints you a 2X3-inch hardcopy delivering it out of the side of the camera.
Well, not really. After all, this is what people have come to expect from a Polaroid camera; isn’t it? All that said, Polaroid wanted to give this camera even more of a “Wow” factor. They added high definition video recording capability. You now have three photographic miracles in one phenomenal package, a digital still-image camera, an HD video camera and a color printer. It is great fun and you can print out as many of each photo as you want. We put a memory card inside which stored hundreds of photos from the evening, My daughter then uploaded these to Facebook for all the guests to see. The zink photo paper has a sticky back, so we let all the guest peel off the back, stick it in the guestbook and write a message. You can only fit one pack zink paper in the camera at a time. And once you load a new pack you have to wait for it to spit out the top blue card. This doesn't really take that long, but in a world of 'instant mentality', you tend to feel impatient as you wait.
I would say it is very durable as it was handled but so many people that were mostly drunk and the camera is still in perfect condition and functioning perfectly. I think it is a great polaroid camera.
The good points:
-it looks nice with the rainbow stripe (just like the old Polaroid 1000 in a different shape)
-easy to hold and use
-not too big and not really heavy
-quality of the digital files acceptable for this type of camera and its intended use
-acceptable cost of the prime designated paper. Note it also takes the older Pogo paper but with less quality.
-acceptable quality of the prints if pictures are taken under good lightning conditions (sunny weather and flash)
-in-camera editing possible before printing (limited)
The less good points:
-the feel of the plastic body but in the past entry level Polaroid cameras were all plastic, so not a real problem
-the scene modes do not always give the desired result, a little experimenting is needed (I prefer the "P" mode)
-printing uses much power. My advise is to buy an extra battery if you want to print without using the mains adaptor/charger
-lens could be just a little more wide angle (it is approx. 50 mm equiv.)
-paper door opens quickly unwanted
-high ISO limited to 400
A few user tips:
-because the prints are 2x3 and the screen and sensor 3x4 the print is cut off. You see this with red lines on top and below of the screen when in printing mode, but not when taking picture.Read more ›
Polaroid recommends premium 2x3 Zink media which is expensive. You can still use the cheap (£0.14/sheet) POGO papers but the quality will be slightly reduced.
compared to other polaroids this one is definitely a fail...
