I run at least 3-4 times per week, and this watch has been awesome to run with. I have exactly tested out all of it's features just yet, but I find it easy to use and the GPS is fairly quick to connect! I've found the GPS to be quite accurate in tracking the miles I've run, however, I'm not 100% sure of it's ability to track my altitude (I just really haven't looked in to it).
The start-stop on this watch is a bit disappointing, because you have to press and hold the button for at least 3 seconds to end you workout. So if you're looking for a watch to track your shorter runs (ie: sprints and short intervals) this is definitely not the watch for you.
The battery life on this watch isn't the greatest, but before this watch I had running watches whose batteries you never really needed to be changed, so that's really all I have to compare it to. I have to charge it at least once a week (running 3-4 times with an average 1hr/run), but it doesn't take that long to charge up, and then in the mean time it'll hook up to your PolarFlow App and show you all sorts of details about you run. I would also recommend getting the hear rate monitor as well for serious training, there's a lot more you can do with the watch if you have it connected to the heart rate monitor.
I especially like the PolarFlow App on my computer! It's amazing the amount of information that you can receive with this app and it'll definitely keep you on target if your running goals include increasing your distance, running faster, and losing weight.
One this I really like about this watch as well is that it's not as bulky as some of the other GPS running watches I've seen. It's pretty sleek in design and it doesn't feel like it'll weigh your arm down! I'm not a huge fan of the extremely long, wrist band... this is coming from a guy with pretty small wrists.
Style wise it is very large and chunky, making it easy to read but on a small female wrist it is very conspicuous, there is a huge amount of strap left over and it is also difficult to get shirt and coat cuffs over the watch.
My only serious gripe is the HRM - it has a battery cover which is very difficult to remove, had to go instore to find a strong man to open! After 3rd battery change, the slot for opening was ruined, because it is made of very soft, easily deformed plastic For various reasons I got a new, separate HRM (H10), which is 100% satisfactory. The battery cover is designed differently, easily removed by popping up with a knife tip, small screwdriver or similar. I have also learnt the futility of wearing the strap 24/7, which I initially thought necessary in order to monitor sleep etc - it only made the (expensive) battery run out in 7-10 days. I only wear it for training sessions or long outdoor walks and can monitor all I need.
In Polar's defence I will say I got excellent response from the service people in the UK and when I sent back the original HRM, still covered by guarantee, they replaced the battery cover and put in a new battery at no charge
I have tried various GPS watches, TOM-TOM and Garmin as well. The Garmin Forerunner 305 has proved a great watch, and did not require such molly coddling at the M400.
I did however like the M400 in terms of it's usability and other features and feel if the reliability of synching and charging could be addressed, then it could be a great product. Unfortunately this watch is no more due to it dying on me, and I have had to rely on my old friend. It was only 4 months old.
It is also an activity tracker. I spend my day in front of the computer, sometimes sitting for hours straight. This little buddy will give you a warning every hour and if you ignore it, it will "award" you with an inactivity stamp on your Flow web profile. Believe me - you will feel embarrassed and the next time you hear the warning - you will get your ass off the chair for a short walk or just for some stretching.
Tested it also outdoor - the GPS acquires satellites fast and is very accurate.
And it is not even that bulky - my wrist is 6.5" and it looks (I think) fine on it.
A minor complain I'd have is - the sound could be louder or better - control the sound level via settings menu. In a noisy gym environment where they play music loudly, it could be difficult to hear the watch.
Another good improvement would be the ability to set multiple "one time" or periodic alarms (reminders).
