Probably my favourite of the four book series. Lady C is poisoned and Charlotte Collins is in the frame! All our favourite characters are present plus a new one (it works, trust me) and we have our Hunsford moment with a twist.

The plots and subplots makes this third book in this series absolutely brilliant. Even with using some remarkable and unforgettable sentences from the original this variation is truly original. I loved it

3.0 out of 5 stars Tea and cravats and forensic toxicologists, oh my! 3 July 2015
By Jerilyn - Published on Amazon.com

Elizabeth travels to Rosings and someone tries to poison Lady Catherine. Exciting!

The overall mystery was good. Ms. Swan does a good job of hiding the true poisoner and slowly revealing the truth. The characters are refreshingly modern (not as stiff and boring as other P&P redux) but they do have a bit of a caricature feel to them (Mr. Collins is TOO stupid, Anne is TOO browbeaten and timid)

This book would have been quite good if it weren't for the addition of the forensic toxicologist. Ms. Swan slips a few too many modern characteristics and terms into her books but they're usually easy to overlook. This one was so snort-worthy obvious that it took me right out of the story. While she tries to camouflage him as an 1805 gentleman science enthusiast, he's running around with a laboratory and tests to extract poisons from tea. I'm sure the science was getting its start at this historical period, but Mr. Darcy collecting samples of all the tea things was pretty far-fetched.

Elizabeth and Darcy continue to sneak around, hide the truth from each other, get mad, flounce off and then get all hot and bothered for each other, just to begin the cycle all over again.

4.0 out of 5 stars My fave of the three 21 Jun. 2015

I thoroughly enjoyed book three of the dark Darcy books. The language and characters , I feel, are true to jane Austen's originals. This mystery is my favorite, except for the resolution, which seemed a bit far fetched, but perhaps during the time period could have been pulled off. The attraction between Darcy and Elizabeth is great fun to read about .
5.0 out of 5 stars A great plot twist on the original story 12 Oct. 2016

Ofcourse I have read the original story of Pride and Prejudice and so I was surprised to find that this book is really good (as are the others of this 4 book series). Well developed characters, nice plot twists, well paced story. I read all 4 of them almost in one go as I really loved these books. Highly recommended
5.0 out of 5 stars Great as always! 4 Aug. 2015

Once again Penolope Swan did an outstanding job. Love how she combines the parts from "Pride and Prejudice" , and entwines it to her mystery story! When I got to the part where Darcy proposes, I knew how it was going to have to go, but it was so intense, I had to put the book down and come back to it later. To me, that is a good sign of a well written book! I was so caught up in the story, I needed to take a break from it!
