Poison is another brilliant book by Chris Wooding. If you liked The Haunting of Alaizabel Cray, then you'll love this. I couldn't put it down until the very end. It has an original storyline and is fast-paced and exciting. Even if you haven't read any of Wooding's other books, you'll probably like this if you liked books by Philip Pullman, William Nicholson or Garth Nix.

I read this for the first time when I was alot younger, way way before 2014 and it's always remained one of my most favorite fantasies no matter how many times I thumbed the well worn pages. Can't wait to read it again!

I was recommended Chris Wooding's books by a friend who knew I was into twisted fairytales, traditional folklore aesthetics, and female leads. This book contains all of that and more. Despite it seeming to be a typical coming of age tale, it's full of captivating twists and turns that keep you hooked and wondering how the characters are going to evade trouble! Chris Wooding is a really talented author, and I hope ore people discover his work!

Obviously an underrated book, this book had strong characters and rich imagery. Genuinely scared me in places, if you liked the haunting of alaizabel crey and storm thief then you will like this one too. Loved the ending!
