5.0 out of 5 starsMakes a great, traditional tasting G&T
1 January 2018
A good old fashioned tasting gin, which makes an outstanding gin and tonic. I bought this when on offer on Amazon, and it was excellent value, and I would say superior to others at a similar price. I would recommend this for a traditional tasting G&T.
Definitely one to give a try. Has a refreshing taste and goes well as expected with the usual accompaniments. The only problem I've found is that it seems to suffer from high rates of evaporation. as the bottle seems to empty fairly rapidly.
This one of several reviews I will be doing of various gins.
I have something of a gin habit and rather geekily score gins for both g&t and martini on a spreadsheet (I mix 1:5 with a twist of lemon, well I don't mix it myself that's what husbands are for ) . I score out of ten and I give my go to gin (Bombay London) a 5 out of 10 to act as a baseline to judge against. We score more than once so I get an idea of how they taste over different times and occasions. Please remember these scores are personal and what I like you might not.
So on to Plymouth:
G&T 7/10 Martini 7/10
This is a relatively inexpensive gin and as such now that we have tried it we plan to ensure that there is always a bottle in the cupboard. The G and T is excellent and the martini, paired with Noilly Pratt, is just as good as our other favourites which are made from much more expensive gins. It is very smooth without the harsh edge that you get with a lot of gins. Definitely one to try.
Being a self confessed gin addict, this bottle arrived a few days ago to add to the collection. A very nice well rounded gin... perfect with just a simple fever tree tonic (use the cans, each one is perfect for one glass and a double shot of gin) and a slice of lime or lemon. Would recommend. Nice bottle too, looks good on the shelf with it's peers.
