Plight was one of my 5 star reads for May. I've never been disappointed in any of Kelly's books they always hit the spot and Plight did just that.
A Romantic Comedy about a childhood promise of marriage with an engagement ring in the shape of a cheezel.
A Story of a Second Chance at Romance, a childhood promise and a lot of comedy. Told from both Elliott's and Danielle's POV, while their journey is not plain sailing, it's a truly wonderful and mesmerising read, a feel good romantic story that will warm you up and make you feel all good on the inside. Another amazing book from Kelly.
At 8 years old Danielle said yes to marrying Elliot, but she said there had to wait till they were 30.
Now they are 30 & he is calling in the promise. He is joking around with Danielle , but then he mentions it to their mums. Now the job is lie.
Elliot has always loved Danielle & plans to make the engagement real.
Danielle is so in love with Elliot but she is scared that if they get together & it doesn't work she will lose the best friend she's ever had.
So many funny, loving moments.
The characters are strong, the storyline is brilliantly planned out and it is beautifully written.
KM Golland does it again, I love everything she has written so far and can't wait to see what's next..
It was hard to put down because the anticipation was evident from the start and I think I was a little impatient in wanting the reunion a little sooner than was given, and the build up was torture in places, but in the nicest possible way !!
The characters are instantly lovable, Elliot Parker - oh wow I loved him. Sexy, charming and determined to fulfill a promise he made to a girl he played with and loved when they were children.
Danielle Cunningham - feisty, outspoken and funny, she wonders if after twenty two years apart,Elliot has slightly lost his mind holding her to this silly contractual agreement when they were kids and best friends.
The secondary characters are just as good and the mothers of this couple give us some excellent moments of absolute pure joy.
What I loved the most about this book is what Kelly is the best at doing - making me smile and I mean smile lots. She graced me the reader a laugh a minute journey of discovery and delight that this wonderful couple provided and what a ride it was.
Their chemistry was evident from the off and I think if I have one small little moan, I would have liked a little more sex between the pair, but this did not spoil this amazing awesome story that I really loved and would recommend without a doubt !!!!
Let's face it we all know FaceBook brings out the crazy in everyone especially those 'friends' you haven't seen in a while lost touch with or just plain forgot you even had. Plight is a prime example of the crazy FB brings but boy what a read. This is the story of childhood friends and neighbours whom fate gives a second chance. Full of laughs and love I give Plight by KM Golland a high 4.5 stars.
Getting engaged at 8 years old results in a long engagement that let's face it gets forgotten about when playing with Barbie and Action man gives way to playing less innocent games with the opposite sex. 22 years later you don't expect to be reminded of who you said yes to marrying in the form of a message drawing out the legal ramifications of their childlike engagement. But this is what happens to Danielle when her child hood fiancé Elliot becomes a lawyer.
Told in joint POV with around third of the plot told in memory form, this book had me hooked with Engaging characters you just want to read more from, funny plot and a passel of sub characters that are just as addictive as the main couple. Long distance and time wasting mean nothing to this lawyer keen for a second chance to win his childhood love.
Elliott (aka Lots) and Danielle grew up together, were best friends, and he proposed to her with a Cheezel ring when she was just 8yrs old. Its been years since they've seen each other, but Elliott has got back in touch with her and is determined to rekindle their friendship and their marriage promise!!
I loved the characters here! Elliott is a lawyer, but is also a bit of a goof, and is always coming out quoting facts and figures, for like everything!!! Funny!!! Danielle is just full of sass and wit, and wonders after all these years what the hell has happened to Elliott, who is a hunk but seems to be slightly crazy as well!!!
Their chemistry is instant, but she just wants to be friends, nothing more - but the attraction to Elliott is a real fight, but one she is determined to win.
The wit, banter and humor is fantastic and had me laughing out loud. But the relationship is a very slow burn, don't be looking for red hot sexy scenes in this one, that's not what this is about! But a great story, highly recommended reading.
