Playmags - 100 Piece ValueSet!

Playmags 100-piece set includes a car base with wheels and eight different shapes so that kids can now stretch their imagination to the next level.
More shapes mean more designs, and more designs means more hours of fun play.
Educational Fun: Playmags shapes and patterns provide great motor skills. Encourages imaginative and creative play, and enhances math, geometry, and science skills.

Dr. Toy Review: Playmags Magnetic Building Blocks attract on all sides and the combinations form many different shapes and structures.
From flat designs to squares, pyramids, plus many more unlimited geometric shapes. Tiles easily connect, which prompts kids to move from constructing two-dimensional to three-dimensional creations.
Magnificent high rise 3D towers are designed by kids who have developed into critical thinkers through creative play.
As they build, kids develop tools for spatial problem-solving tasks, logical thinking, and math reasoning. Blocks easily connect and inspire creativity, brain development patterning, shape recognition, building, and motor skills.

The National Parenting Center Review: Playmags are a truly remarkable open-ended building toy. Kids and parents alike were captivated and couldn't stop building an endless variety of shapes, structures, you name it.
The set comes with 100 brightly colored, translucent pieces. There are triangles in three different sizes and two square sizes. Magnets are inserted inside the edges and that's about all you need to know.
The magnets are strong enough to construct pretty solid structures, these pieces got a real workout but never broke or shattered. Parents noted that while the basic idea is building and playing they saw that their children were learning physics, geometry, math, spatial reasoning and architecture without even knowing it.

    Pro’s
    Well-built and good quality
    Brightly coloured
Large pieces, easy for a child to hold
    Simple connection method
    Easy to disassemble
    Tidies away nicely
Doesn’t hurt as much when you accidentally tread on the pieces

    Con’s
Objects you build are quite fragile
No advanced dexterity requirements so might not be challenging enough for some
Limited creativity due to size and range of pieces
    Quite expensive

Having been brought up on a diet of Lego, Stickle Bricks and Meccano, plus another house-building set I forget the name of which had little cream and red slide-in brick pieces and child-unfriendly metal rods, I am always keen to see what’s going on in the world of creativity tools for the young’uns to see who’s moved the game on.

Having never heard of Playmags before, I was surprised at the decent quality and well built nature of this set. In essence, you put together the brightly coloured tiles which connect with each other using magnets. The magnetism is strong enough to hold them in place, but not so strong as to be difficult to pull apart. There are pro’s and con’s to this, in that a younger child of say 2 years could happily put bits together without as much frustration as could be witnessed by pieces that require interlocking such as a traditional brick-based toy. The con’s to this are that it is not as challenging so the dexterity requirements are not as high. Also, it means the things you make won’t stand up to any bashing about. Make a car for example, and you can push it around gently, but don’t expect to ram it up against the cupboards or hold it with any force as the car will collapse. Perhaps that in a way can encourage children to be gentle?

We bought this set for our two boys, 2 and 4 year old, this Christmas and it was a hit. It was quite challenging for our 2 year old at first, who was mainly trying to build cars and drive them and he didn't understand that he could not squeeze and push the cars without them falling apart, but he is learning fast. He has figured out how to make garages for his other cars, cubes - sometimes even buildings from cubes with 2-3 floors -, and he has discovered that he can put something into the cubes before closing them. He also likes just tiling in 2 dimensions. Our 4 year old is making more complicated constructions. Lately he has been occupied with creating apartments with rooms and using them as play-houses. He puts Duplo- or Playmobil figures inside which he attributes to members of the family and plays out their life. It's too early to confirm that this is one of the very best toys our boys have but it certainly seems it will be at least in our top-ten list. We, their parents, also have fun playing with them. The material seems top quality. The magnets are strong enough for the pieces to stick well together, yet not so strong that it's too difficult to pull them apart. Even tidying up is fun and addictive, as the pieces arrange themselves in stacks practically by themselves.

Fantastic fun but disappointed that the picture is not what you get in box and instruction guide inside includes build that require purchase of further sets. Very disappointed. My son was disgusted and hasn't played with again realising some builds he attempted could not be completed without mum buying another set. I think that breaches trade description will check out and post again

I bought these for my 3 year old on her birthday and she adores them. I love sitting there building with her too - as a parent sometimes playing with kids toys can get a bit boring (sorry) but these had me and her dad playing with her for hours as we built houses, garages, towers, castles, boats, rockets and put her little figurines inside. Super cute to watch her get so enthusiastic about building. The bag is great for keeping everything safe and tucked away as well

Our boys first used this product at the Phoenix Children's museum at just over 2 years old and enjoyed it. We were delighted to find it online and bought it for them as they approach 3 years old. They love building with it and have quickly (day 1) figured out how to construct objects on their own. I highly recommend it.

Bought for my grandson's birthday and he was playing with it on the day. Easy to construct and not 'fiddly' for small fingers. He loves the 'free' wheels and I think I'll add to the set with more wheels later. The pieces fit neatly into the bag provided, so it tidies away nicely when not in use. I love the bright colours as well! Well impressed.

I've given this to my children (4 and 6) a couple of weeks ago, and since then they play with that for hours a day, their buildings becoming ever more complex and creative. My 6-year-old verdict was "brilliant, but the car is just OK". (the car is really a bit fiddly to build on). The pieces scratch a bit after being pushed around the floor for these two weeks, but they still look good. The magnets are polarised, which makes for some initial frustration, but the children quickly figured out how to set it up.

This is without a doubt the best toy we've ever bought for our kids (5 year old boy and 3 year old girl). They spend hours building really creative structures with it, and I can see it being used for years to come. We'll definitely be adding to the set. I agonized about whether to spend the extra on Magnatiles instead, but after watching several helpful youtube videos offering side-by-side comparisons, we decided to go with playmags, and I'm really glad we did. We've been delighted with the quality and as a big plus, they are much cheaper than the magnatiles.
