About the Author

A true Southerner, self-taught photographer Rick Day moved to New York City in 1994 and has become a noted name in Fashion Photography. His work has been published in numerous publications such as Elle, Details, Teen Vogue and GQ and shot advertising campaigns for Gap, Ritani and Rufskin. When not traveling, he spends his time in the East Village with his dogs Mila and Luna always shooting the hottest faces in the industry. In a generation where beauty is obsession and sex is a product, he seems to have flawlessly "cataloged the world's sexiest exhibitionists," in their most intimate moments, with his coffee table books PLAYERS and PIONEERS.

If hot guys in the locker room turn you on then this book is a must. The photography is brilliant, the men are all extremely sexy and they show themselves off in shorts, knickers and jockstraps in natural-looking poses that most of us have only dreamed about. Players 2 follows the same theme. What Rick Day has realised to perfectionn is the erotic charge of masculinity partially covered, but in no way concealed, by underwear or other articles of clothing. Most of the pictures in the first book were frontal. In the second one, Day demonstrates that the male rear view is just as sexy as the front. These books are, according to the blurb, intended for a female as well as a male audience. Maybe. But they are books which will be bought first and foremost by gay men. If you are anything like this gay man you will not regret it.

Rick Day - Players

This was great, really inspirational to me as a model and photographer. Many beautiful men, amazing poses, and great camera use. With all the photos its a struggle to work out who made the picture as good as it is, the photographer, or the model, as all the images are striking and hard to forget.

Only a few things I didn't like about it is there isn't much writing with it, its very cold and the images are inconsistent, though all still stick within the same theme. I'd have liked to have seen a bit more character to the book itself with a small story or biography to go with it so the images would tie up with one another. This would give me an excuse to pick it up more then twice to have a quick read through it.

But as a selection of random images, its brilliant. I'm looking forward to getting Pioneers.

HASH(0x91dbe7c8) out of 5 stars Rick Day is my god... 19 Oct. 2009
By J. Salzenstein - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
If you like hot athletes in very little clothing- and really, who doesn't?- PLAYERS will make you very happy. This new photo book from New York based photographer Rick Day features incredibly hot, muscled, sporty men showing off the bodies they've built through years of playing football, soccer, wrestling, and other sports we love to fantasize about.

Or at least models who we'd like to believe play those games.

If you pay attention to high-end clothing ads, the International Male catalog, or have an obsession with hot male models, you'll definitely recognize a few guys in this book. Of course given the lack of clothing, you might not be looking at their faces.

PLAYERS features models in sport gear... who seem not to care much for wearing it. And also like to embrace their exhibitionist side. And we're fine with that. The book is gorgeous- even by Bruno Gmunder standards, which are already incredibly high. Of course the colors and clarity are brilliant, and it's printed on high quality paper, but it goes even further. As coffee table books go, it has one of the best layouts I've seen in years.

If you're even a bit on the prudish side, I'd advise you to stay away from this book; it's got some full-on nudity, in a big way. (And I mean a big way.) It's artfully shot, the production value is incredible, and I wouldn't call it porn, but it's definitely a bit more "exciting" (or perhaps "excited" is the better word) than classic Herb Ritts type shots.

HASH(0x91dbe81c) out of 5 stars STUNNING! 5 Aug. 2009
By C. Griffith - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
This book is simply STUNNING. Mr. Day's talent is beyond definition...He is not only able to find models (who are works of art in and of themselves), but is a master at creating and an intense atmosphere of sex, power, strength, and vulnerability. The book, gets deeper, more meaningful, and challenging each time you look at. It is a great addition for any collection!

HASH(0x91eb9024) out of 5 stars YOU GOTTA HAVE THIS BOOK 30 Jan. 2010
By J. F. Alvarado - Published on Amazon.com

Yeah , yeah the men are hot , have hard ons and all that , but the reason why I love this book is first of all is a BIG BOOK , very sexual , but never vulgar , the lighting in each photography is excellent , it gives you that artistic side that you expect. So anyways you have to own this book if you are gay , straight man that likes the men body or if you are a woman that loves good lighting (jk).
