About the Author
A true Southerner, self-taught photographer Rick Day moved to New York City in 1994 and has become a noted name in Fashion Photography. His work has been published in numerous publications such as Elle, Details, Teen Vogue and GQ and shot advertising campaigns for Gap, Ritani and Rufskin. When not traveling, he spends his time in the East Village with his dogs Mila and Luna always shooting the hottest faces in the industry. In a generation where beauty is obsession and sex is a product, he seems to have flawlessly "cataloged the world's sexiest exhibitionists," in their most intimate moments, with his coffee table books PLAYERS and PIONEERS.

This was great, really inspirational to me as a model and photographer. Many beautiful men, amazing poses, and great camera use. With all the photos its a struggle to work out who made the picture as good as it is, the photographer, or the model, as all the images are striking and hard to forget.
Only a few things I didn't like about it is there isn't much writing with it, its very cold and the images are inconsistent, though all still stick within the same theme. I'd have liked to have seen a bit more character to the book itself with a small story or biography to go with it so the images would tie up with one another. This would give me an excuse to pick it up more then twice to have a quick read through it.
But as a selection of random images, its brilliant. I'm looking forward to getting Pioneers.

Or at least models who we'd like to believe play those games.
If you pay attention to high-end clothing ads, the International Male catalog, or have an obsession with hot male models, you'll definitely recognize a few guys in this book. Of course given the lack of clothing, you might not be looking at their faces.
PLAYERS features models in sport gear... who seem not to care much for wearing it. And also like to embrace their exhibitionist side. And we're fine with that. The book is gorgeous- even by Bruno Gmunder standards, which are already incredibly high. Of course the colors and clarity are brilliant, and it's printed on high quality paper, but it goes even further. As coffee table books go, it has one of the best layouts I've seen in years.
If you're even a bit on the prudish side, I'd advise you to stay away from this book; it's got some full-on nudity, in a big way. (And I mean a big way.) It's artfully shot, the production value is incredible, and I wouldn't call it porn, but it's definitely a bit more "exciting" (or perhaps "excited" is the better word) than classic Herb Ritts type shots.
