Read the blurb and I thought i knew what was coming, I was very wrong.

The twists and turns in the plot and the introduction of new characters and threads is expertly done here. Linking "council geezers", death, religion, supermodels and some other areas I won't mention at risk of spoiling it for you, this was a very welcome addition to my reading.

If you enjoy a good thriller this is most definitely for you.

Pulls you right into the fabric of this twisted tale that could well be the b'stard love-child of Brett Easton Ellis and Clive Barker. You might not realise where some of the plot threads are heading but they end up weaving themselves back into a macabre crescendo.

If you like anything off-beat, and enjoy taking the pish out of Heat and superficial society then Players' Lounge will be right up your alley.

At once both a thriller and a remarkable work of humour, this is a fantastic book that weaves together a tale of modern-day London and a bizarre dream (or should I say nightmarish) world. Butcher's observations on pop culture are witty and astute, and the twists in the storyline will keep you turning the pages till the end.

Recommended for anyone who likes an entertaining and quirky read.
