To be honest, if I were just judging this game in its own right, I would give it an easy 5. It's an epic first-person opus with massive free-roaming environments to explore, action/RPG elements, eye-poppingly superb graphics and an infectious sense of humour. It is literally a big-console game that has been ported to the hand-held small screen and still manages to retain that expansive, high budget vibe. Kudos points should be awarded for such an ambitious under-taking, and for the fact that the game was ported so successfully (on the whole)...But here's the rub: there are a few niggling annoyances (especially if you are well-versed with the big-console versions) that may affect your enjoyment of this modern gaming classic. First and foremost, frame-rate. Busy sections of the game tend to slow down and get really jerky, making combat slightly awkward on occasion. This happens fairly frequently but you almost don't notice it once you've got used to the handling. Next, the rear-touch sensitivity of the vita is somewhat lacking. This can be exasperating, especially since melee attacks and sprinting are all accessed from this input and very often result in missed taps and oh...death. Also, the in-game written dialogue is seriously tiny. Like, 'I need a magnifying glass right now' tiny. Obviously, no attempt had been made to make the interface more user-friendly for the small screen. But, when all is said and done, it IS unmistakably Borderlands 2 in the palm of your hand. It IS still eminently playable, immersive, a great gameplaying experience and worth every penny. Ultimately, I think we're lucky that such a prominent game title has come to the PS Vita. Just don't expect it to perform quite as smoothly as your Xbox/PS3 would...

This game is incredible. How Sony managed to port this to the vita is beyond me, the sheer size and scale of the game is beyond any other vita title by far. This deserves more credit than it gets to be honest, yes there are a few small frame rate issues but it's not bad that you can't play the game, 95% of the time it runs smooth and perfect with no slowdown.
The game itself is quite possibly the best game I've ever played. it's soooo addictive it's unreal. Can be quite a challenge in places but never impossible. Amazing game.

It's pretty impressive to have the entire Borderlands 2 game on the vita; there are a fair few compromises but all the content is still here along with some DLC packs, and frame rate aside this is still one of the best looking games on the Vita.
Pros:
+Borderlands 2 itself is a great game with tons of content and fun gameplay
+The scaled down graphics still look good
+The frame rate does sometimes go up to 30-ish for some parts of the game and further patches may help
Cons
-Sub-30 frame rate throughout the majority of the game, dipping at a few times to make it look almost like a slideshow rather than a game, which can make the game difficult and frustrating to play
-The sound doesn't seem great, its a bit compressed, but not awful
-The controls are a bit of a pain especially if you have the original Vita with the larger rear touch-pad, although I hear some of these issues might be alleviated in a future update
-The Vita version costs more than the 360/PS3 versions of the game so unless you want the game specifically for a portable, you'd be better off buying it on console
Despite all the problems I can honestly say I've had a lot of fun playing the game so far and I haven't even finished the main storyline yet. The frame rate problem is pretty serious at times but generally the game is totally playable; just a shame they didn't release a little bit later to allow more time to polish up the game.

I'm normally not a graphics whore but the frame rate on this game is definitely a little too low. To the point of distraction. I've played games at 30fps my entire life. 60fps isn't a necessity for me at all but the fps drops in this game are not good.
It is a real shame because Borderlands is a really fantastic series and one that would have thrived on Vita but the Vita choked the life out of it instead.
The overall game is great. Borderlands 2 is definitely a gem of the 360/PS3 generation but really you should stick to one of the other platforms for this one.

I'd played Borderlands 2 on both PC and PS3 before buying this, and I am not disappointed with the Vita version. The frame rate is slightly an issue, I originally tried to play as Kreig, but the frame rate drop in close combat made him an impossible class to use. I restarted as Axton and I have found the game much more playable. The mission system of the game is great for a portable system, with each mission taking between 5 and 10 minutes. Overall, I would recommend this to any Vita buyer, even as a novelty to show off the power of the system.

Lots of talk in the previous reviews about slow frame rate and lower resolution.I only noticed fewer enemies than the PS3 when you get swamped by enemies at certain points. To me the game is a REALLY good conversion and in my opinion is close to the console version in game play and I find myself enjoying this just as much as the console version.Only downside is that it eats battery power mainly because I play it hours at a time.I love that they are starting to push the vita and get away from ds ports.

Since I already had Borderlands 2 on PS3 (and I must say, Best, Game, Ever!) I decided to buy it for the Vita to play on the go. Firstly, the cross save feature is very quick and easy to do, however, you have to save the file back to the console and vice versa to update the data for the console you werent playing on. Secondly, the graphics are good quality, surprising actually for such a small console. But I have experienced the game shutting off quite a few times; but thanks to the autosave function, nothing is lost. Also, the additon of the two added characters and all the DLC's is very nice. All in all, a very good transfer from PS3 to PS Vita, that should not be doubted for it's faults, but praised for it's qualities.
