The title of this collection is very apposite. Reading this book is like dipping into a jar of sweets without looking to see what treat you have picked. You literally don't know what is coming next! Stories of every flavour and texture tickle your fancy. But take them sparingly, because half the joy is in savouring your selection, letting it linger and slowly mellow or sharply explode with meaning. I bet you'll go back and try some of these delights again, to see if there is any juice left in them. I guarantee there will be. Enjoy.

We've just got a Kindle and went on a holiday with a 10 hour flight. I bought lots of ebooks, a whole spread for all the family. I tried this and was pleasantly surprised. I'd never read short-short stories and didn't know what to expect. The subjects are so varied, and they hit you thick and fast. The longer stories gel together into a couple of mini series, and the little shorts - or flash as they are called (see I was paying attention) wiz you through a lot. Some are funny, some are sad, and some are a little steamy.

I really liked it and will certainly be looking out for this author's next book

'A Plate of Bits' by Avis Hickman Gibb is just the thing to feast on, on these lengthening nights and just the thing to buy for Christmas instead of that boring box of biscuits. It takes a long time to prepare a quality buffet and this is a quality buffet at your fingertips. I saw it in its preparation and followed it to its fruition and I can guarantee the authenticity of each platter.

Treat yourself. Treat your friends to 'A Plate of Bits' - each story delicately spiced for the discerning literary palate.

I'm a short story fan and when I heard about this book from a friend I thought I would give it a go. I am really glad I did, it's a superb collection of original and refreshing stories. The flash stories were a new concept to me and took a little getting used to but when I did I think they may be my favourites. Although the mini seriel about life in England in WW11 was also absorbing. In fact, I liked them all ! I would recommend this without hesitation and hope you enjoy it as much as I have.

Put your feet up with this book and a cup of coffee ( or two ) and the world will pass you by unnoticed. If you want an excuse for not doing all those things that you really should be doing, this selection of short stories is exactly what you have been looking for. Enjoy them - and enjoy the moment, because it might just pass too quickly. But then, you could always pour another cup of coffee and turn back to page one!
