An Incompatibility ?

The Plantronics 510 did not work properly with my Nokia 6280. While the audio facilities did seem to work (if a little quietly) the voice dialling did not show any sign of speech recognition. This is an important feature for me and had worked fine with a previous earpiece (Logitech). My conclusion is that there is some incompatibility between these devices (or possibly the microphone is too quiet for sound recognition)?

I was about to send the earpiece back, but first I experimented with pairing the device with a Nokia 6210 Navigator - and I found it worked perfectly, including voice activated dialling. So I have kept the earpiece, it is light, reasonably clear and comfortable to wear.
I have since got a Nokia earpiece for the 6280 - and this works OK.

Have had many problems

I am a management consultant so travel a lot and make many business calls from the car including many conference calls with colleagues so noise cancelling is critical. At first it seemed to work quite well, but then I was getting complaints of intereference. I tried it myself and using my voice mail and found it had developed some sort of fault of generating so much static it was hard to hear my voice. I duly returned it, but have found the replacement very poor. On most conference calls I am the one asked to go on "mute" because the it seems to pick up and amplify any sort of background noise. Perhaps these are issues with my individual headset, but I am not trying a third one. I have found the Nokia HB900 to be ok (I bought one and it was stolen so I returned to the 510 for a while and it has not improved, I am on amazon ordering a new Nokia, but thought I would share my experience at the same time.)

The only upside is they replaced the first one pretty promtly so good customer service.

I bought this headset because of the claimed 'noise reduction' technology, and because I needed something light with long battery life. I cannot recommend this highly enough, I frequently use the headset during long walks with my dog, in all weathers, and both transmission and reception is excellent. Typical battery life seems to be around 3 days without charging (and with frequent use), and it is so comfortable I often forget I'm wearing it. Outstanding product for anyone using their phone outside - no downside.

Very disappointed

I purchased this headset after reading the generally positive reviews. I have to say, I am very, very underwhelmed.

The sound quality is abysmal, far worse than other Bluetooth headsets I have owned. Even in a quiet room people I am calling complain that it sounds like there is severe static on the line and that I have a "tinny quality" to my voice. The call quality on my end is no better.

Using the headset with a computer and VoIP produces choppy and uneven sound, static and lots of gaps. Note: this is not because of the Internet connection (100mb); if I switch to a different headset I get crystal clear sound.

I'm hoping that it is simply my particular headset which is the problem; we shall see as I am sending it back tomorrow.

A flawed design?

Owned this for about 6 months and in day to day use it was great. Very light, good battery life.

However, because I used it daily, I was in the habit of alternating which ear I used it in to keep aural balance. This necessitates rotating the extended microphone arm. Over time this has resulted in the wiring, which I have discovered is all packed in around the swivel joint, from becoming snagged and sheared by the arm, rendering the unit useless.

So, a decent unit providing you don't swivel the microphone arm.

Fab product if purchased at agrreable price

Fantastic headset extremely comfortable for me but for some may not be so depends on ear shape i suppose.Try and avoid keep rotating because i believe with over use the socket can come apart on the swivel - i have had this before on cheaper makes.Easy to pair and use and battery life looks good thus far - Bought mine from a china supplier and got for £10 so at the price its a stonking deal ,came with non genuine charging cable its a generic type but works fine .Would have given 5 star but need to use long term to ensure product is worthy.
