I brought this for battlefield 3 as my speakers were to load, and wow wow wow this sound amazing make sure you have the usb dolby on when playing as you can hear where abouts the enermy are behind you, tank shells zooming past you sound so good that you even duck for cover because it sounds so real. The mic is also very clear.

Windows 7 64-bit:
There were problums before but microsoft fixed them as i use 64-bit version and everything is fine.

The Setup:
Just plug in and there you go done, but to get the real good sound go to your sound set up in control panel and change playback to usb headset and recording to usb headset and put volume on max as the headset as a volume control on it, this saves you time changeing it in windows all the time.

The Headset:
When you have this in your hands you can tell its a solid and well build product, great headset. The micphone hides away as well which is great to.

The Feel:
Now i have a big head because im a big guy and yet the headset feels and fits like a glove, really comftoble feel.

Music:
OMG! i mean it sounds great in 7.1 and the base is unreal there realy basey.

I've had this product for a little while now so thought I should write a review on my experiences. First thing first! if you are just about to order this item: please be aware it comes very tight! I put this on having opened it and thought my brain was going to explode, within 5 minutes I had decided I would send it back. But well; being close to the weekend I thought the least I could do was see how much it loosened up before I wrote my report and posted it back off. It took only two-days to completely reshape itself to fit my head, over the coming week it become simple perfection. I'm not entirely sure how it happens as it seemed very stiff and strong to start with but give this product a while to adjust to your head-size! even if you start off worrying about it.

Now, onto the item itself. I am first of all; an MMO and FPS player myself. This item is fantastic for shooters, never have I found it so easy to pin-point sound. If you play shooters most of the time this headset will increase your game-play by an unbelievable amount. The 5:1 surround sound picks up perfectly and reacts fantastically; in order to test I span on the spot and listened to the sound moving off in the distance - I could pin-point it every time. The headset itself is very sturdy coming with a stronger wire which is lovely to those of us who may toss it aside every now and again when that obvious hacker (read: far superior player) gets that head-shot one to many times.

MMO wise, I have used this for vent communication multiple times, and although it is not the crispest most perfect sound it is more than good presenting a high sound quality. In head-set speaker ranges, I'd say this is very good for it's money, and close to the top yet not quite there. If your intention is to be making pod-casts and running radio shows you'll probably want to look elsewhere but for the gamer just wishing to run raids and be clearly understandable this is your prize. The set is also connectible both via USB and cables allowing for you to use it on it's own, or in connection to your speakers; having the choice is always appreciated.

I would add a warning though, due to the inbuilt system I did find it messing with my sound settings a bit, and the first movie I tried to watch appeared to give it a bit of a hard time also. I'd advise making sure you check your settings having plugged it in just so you get the best quality the speakers can offer. Once set properly however, they give lovely sound with a nice amount of bass, get the balance right and it really does feel like a speaker system in your head - rather than the bad mix you may normally experience with other head-phones.

In conclusion; this is money well spent for a gamer looking for a good all round item. However for those seeking either audio or mic perfection you'll probably wish to look for a single-focused item for each of a similar price. But so far: enjoying this, and not looking back.

I wanted to be sitting in my seat with my mouth dropped in awe at the amazing sound, if only..

I did a lot of research before buying these and decided to go for them based on the reviews..

For the price and the fact it comes with the dolby 5.1 surround attachment i thought these would be great for gaming. However, the 5.1 attachment when switched on just seems to make the sound ..different..not sure how to describe it, it is certainly not surround sound, i can't tell where enemies are coming from on games such as BF:BC2, Bioshock 2, Farcry 2 etc.

I also found one of the speakers was crackling and had to send it back for a replacement, which to be fair was pretty damn good service, this however isn't part of the review/rating as its specific for my purchase.

The sound is good enough, average/good, nothing more, i don't feel blown away or totally immersed when i'm wearing them, which is very disappointing.

The comfort of the headphones can be called into question too, i read about this in reviews and figured they were being picky but the tops of your ears do start to hurt after about an hour.

To conclude i do like them as a pair of headphones, i think they look great, but the whole 5.1 is just a massive gimmick, my dads £15-20 microsoft headphones had better directional sound when gaming. Others who have reviewed have disagreed though, so perhaps it is personal taste with the 5.1, just thought id throw my two pennies in.

I bought 2 pairs of these and *both* pairs have cracked in the same spot (above the left ear).

One pair was for me, one pair was for my wife. We don't share headphones, so these are separate headsizes/shapes/use patterns resulting in the same break. I've been wearing the 'duct taped' version since perhaps 2 months after I bought them.

They still function after 3 years, but there are some other minor issues (sound volume fluctuates, it feels like a wire is loose as I can 'fix' it by pushing the wire in).

Also, the microphone holder broke and now the microphone flops around if I pull it out or touch it. It is very flimsy.

Skip this pair of headphones, they will not last.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sehr gutes, aber nicht perfektes Headset
Reviewed in Germany on 20 December 2010

4.0 out of 5 stars Trés bon casque
Reviewed in France on 1 December 2009
Confort d'utilisation. +

Qualité sonore. ++

Branchement. ++
