The book is so chunky now that it needs propping open - but it's a mine of information when you are struggling to find a particular plant in your usual haunts - good for tracking down the ones not everybody else is growing!
My only criticism is that growers or suppliers who advertise their email contact don't always reply to enquiries, which can be time-wasting and frustrating - though not the fault of the book's compilers.

Another must have edition of this amazing book. Get the correct plant name and spelling and what is more, where to buy details of all those rarities you see when garden visiting etc. Also serves as an invaluable geographical list of those super plant nurseries both big and small for those who enjoy garden/plant based holidays. Much more too.

I tried the on-line version of this on the RHS web site. Clearly it should excel at finding sources for rare plants. I went through about 15 varieties that we want to buy for which the Plantfinder showed between 1 and 3 mail order suppliers with links to their web sites. I did not manage to find stock of any of the varieties listed on any of the sites to which I was directed.

If you are looking for a particular plant and cannot find it locally then the Plant Finder is what you need. It lists the plants and suppliers and is updated each year. The book seems to get larger each year as more plants are added. The whole idea is brilliant and I would not be without it.

I purchased the RHS Plant Finder in September 2009.
As it is rviewed and another edition published aech April I bought this book at a very favourable price. The book is extremely useful to me in my work as a college lecturer at it gives me the currently corrcet name for the plants I wish to menbtion in my lectures.
