I've recently come across Hey Rosetta (not keen on the name!), they're Canadian, and I can't believe I've not heard them before because they're brilliant, the lead singer and song writer is Tim Baker and he has a great voice and writes beautiful songs. They have their own sound, but to compare for an idea of their sound, or, to give an idea of the other bands I'm into that I think they share similarities with: Arcade Fire, Elbow, Mumford, Coldplay, Jeff Buckley, Beirut, Midlake, Crowded House - they belong with these great bands! There are a good few videos on Youtube, which is how I first heard them, check out: A Thousand Suns, Psalm, Red Song, Red Heart, Yer Spring, There's an Arc, The Simplest Thing - only a few of their great songs. I'm writing this review because I think they deserve a much wider audience, if you disagree then I apologise, but if you like them, great, one new fan is better than non!

HASH(0xa1c67540) out of 5 stars hey Rosetta deserves a break 15 April 2009

Here is a great but little known band from the Canadian Atlantic coast. It's classified as garage rock, which it may be, but with a distinct twist that absolutely grabbed me. What press they get is very good but it seems to me, they don't get enough. though this is only a 6 track (debut) album, I am very happy to have it in my collection. it's obvious that there is lots of potential, which I feel is realized in their new full length release. I have seen them live and it was a great show, no weakness anywhere.

I saw Hey Rosetta! live when they were in Columbus with Hot Hot Heat and 22-20's. I got to hang out with them and talk to them, they are literally some of the nicest people I've ever met. The amount of heart and soul they put in to their music alone should propel them to stardom. Not to mention the fact that every song on the album is amazing. Beautifully arranged by Tim Baker, the Poor Man's Win Butler. Tim Baker also writes the amazingly heartfelt lyrics. The most honest, touching lyrics I've ever heard. The only bad thing about this EP is that it doesn't have Becky on it. But that's more of a live song anyways. Regardless, if you heard them somewhere, saw them open for someone or maybe even have Into Your Lungs, this is an amazing buy and I promise you, you will not regret it.
HASH(0xa1a57054) out of 5 stars Underrated Band! 1 Jun. 2012
By Ben - Published on Amazon.com

Hey Rosetta! is an amazing band that really deserves more recognition. Plan Your Escape doesn't have a bad track on it. Unfortunately this version is missing a few of the tracks from the full version, one of my favorites being "Tie Down the Dying". You can find this and the other missing songs on Youtube. I have no idea why this was re-released as an EP when the full album is so incredible.
Their other two albums are equally awesome.
Give them a chance and you won't regret it. Happy listening!
