A great product - and suitable for younger children than the recommended age range. My eleven month old grandadaughter beams with delight when she's rocked on this. An added bonus is that it's small and light enough to be 'galloped' around the room with child on board.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful! 4 Dec. 2008
By Cathy - Published on Amazon.com
It's rare you open the box and think "What a beautiful toy!" This rocking horse is just lovely and confirms my decision to buy wood over plastic. The rocking horse is bigger than I thought and just screams quality. I can't wait for my son to see it on Christmas morning... I'll have to return and rate it again after he plays with it, but I was just so impressed and excited when I saw it in the box that I had to log on and leave a comment.

ETA: Pleased to report my 1-yr-old loves it as much as I do! He mounts it independently and rocks like a wild man - big smiles. He spends lots of time on it; it's a keeper. His almost 4-yr-old sister enjoys it, too. I keep fearing she'll flip it over but it hasn't happened yet.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Pleased! 28 Dec. 2011

My wife and I were trying to resist buying a lot of new stuff for our son... preferring to reuse wherever possible. We live in a small town in Alaska so our options are limited. After looking at ebay, I started to look around at new stuff. I bought this horse without telling her. We gave it to our son for his first birthday and he was riding like a pro within an hour. He also uses it as a walker. He is tall for his age and it is just a tiny bit too big but not enough so that he is aware of it. We've had friends over with 3 year olds that ride it, so it should fit for a while. I like the sustainable practices of the Plan Toys Co. and feel good about supporting that and it is very well made. I'm 180 lbs and I sat on it without so much as a creak.
Plus- It's just so COOL looking.
This was a little more than we were going to pay for a rocking horse, but we both feel it was worth it. It will last through as many children as we have and then some, I'm sure.

3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed 5 Aug. 2013
By Amy Douglass - Published on Amazon.com
This horse does not look like it does in the picture. They changed the rockers so that they have nubs at the end that keep it from overturning but also keep it from rocking smoothly. My twin girls are 18 months and I think they may lose interest in this quickly and will probably outgrow it quickly.

3.0 out of 5 stars Cute but not amazing 28 Jun. 2011

I was beyond excited about ordering this rocking horse! It is adorable and sturdy. Unfortunately my daughter climbed through it pretending it was a tunnel more times than she actually rocked on it. I think this is very much a beginner rocker since it really doesn't rock very far at all. By the time she was old enough and big enough to climb on and rock herself, she was looking for a little more movement. When she did use it, it would wiggle itself all the way across the room as she rocked. She thought that was funny ;)

2.0 out of 5 stars Barely moves! Maybe baby. Not for toddlers. 10 Sept. 2015
By Livingston - Published on Amazon.com
This horse may be suitable for the youngest of babies and toddlers, but it doesn't hold up to the expectations of a 2 year old. My 27 month old is completely frustrated with this toy. She was excited to get on the horse and rock, but THERE IS NO ARC. It barely moves at all. It's practically stationary! I am shocked at all the really highly positive reviews. While it's a well-made, beautiful toy, it seems to be more for decoration than actual play. We have tons of Plan Toys products and this is the most disappointing by far.

Perhaps it would be fun for a 12-18 month old. Maybe. But I can't see how an older toddler would enjoy it. It's now a very expensive toy taking up space in my house. Really sad.
