About the Author
Brett Alegre-Wood is a property expert, property investor, opinion leader, blogger, educator and entrepreneur. His first book The 3+1 Plan: The Insider s Way to Achieve Financial Freedom with Just 4 Properties reached No. 1 on Amazon in Personal Finance within weeks of publishing and won The People s Book Prize 2010 in the non-fiction category. The book s overwhelming success has largely been due to providing an answer to the current pension crisis: that people don t have to rely on failing pension schemes or the government, instead they can fund the lifestyle they want when they retire with just 4 properties. Born and educated in Australia, Brett now lives and works in London. His passion for education has led him to build the largest free property investment education website in the UK www.YourPropertyClub.com, sharing insider secrets and time-proven strategies to tens of thousands of investors throughout the world. Brett is a trusted source of property investment tips to create secure and thriving portfolios. He writes an educational blog and weekly newsletter for his clients, presents numerous seminars and makes regular media appearances. He has been interviewed about his property outlook by GMTV, national British press and institutions such as The London Stock Exchange. Brett s second book Successful Property Investment: How to make money from buy-to-let property without the sleepless nights is due out at the end of 2010.

It doesn't teach you any special tricks but tells you what is there to be realised! Nothing magical, but few simple reminders, and doing so you could starting saving all the money you spend on your pension schemes, and maybe give up job way before your retirement age.
Only my second book ever read, but only took 5 days from start to end. Means it is very easy to read.
The only downside is that it doesn't point out enough (and I felt some times it actually ignored) the fact that your initial investment in a property is a personal expense, that you need to take into account when looking at your ROI after 1 or 2 years.
Once you keep that in mind, the book is definitely worth reading.
However... the fundamental backbone of this book and all of the financial plans within is that, the odd wobble aside, property will double in value at least every 10 years. Unfortunately I don't believe this is the case any longer, or will be again. However, if you have more realistic expectations about house price appreciation, and take into account that mortgages aren't as easy to come by these days, this book has pretty solid principles. Well I'll find out if it does soon enough when I embark on my rental career!
Just don't get carried away with the figures quoted - it's unlikely you'll turn £60k into enough to retire in 10 years, but you might be on your way.
Brett keeps it simple and breaks down common sense property strategies. If you have considered property investment or have already started this book is a must for your collection.
