If you know the south coast of Ireland you will love this book, which is reprints of diary articles he wrote for a paper month by month. Delightful to read and keep, about the seasons, the wildlife, the people and history. NIcely produced. I'd love to meet the author, and I'll certainly do some of his walks to see the views he describes next time we're there.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Place near Heaven - indeed it is! 4 Jan. 2011
By Marlogue - Published on
Format: Paperback
I first came across this book when working in the Beara Peninsula in Summer of 2007.Little did I think that four years later, partly inspired by this book, that I would be living here! And I'm not the only one. I've come acfross fellow Dubs who have also moved to the wonderful Courtmacsherry, having been inspired by Damien's most lyrically sublime book.
And having been here for only a few months now, I can tell you, it is a "Place near Heaven' indeed. In fact it's even better than Damien describes it....If you can't bring yourself to visit, at least read the book, it'w utterly wonderful....
