Hocus Pocus' latest offering is so smooth - it's a real relief from the usual hardcore rap we get from France nowadays, like Sefyu, Mac Tyler and co. Their music is soul, jazz and rap all mixed nicely, it's like listening to
Two Pages
with rap. The sound is so smooth - it's actually good rap to settle down, or even put on when you have a lady friend round.
Some of the best tracks on this include Place 54, all about a trip on a train getting away from Paris; Vocab, all about swearing and cursing in rap and Mr Tout Le Monde, which is really soulful and relaxing. The whole album is really chilled out, and has very little bad language, except for Vocab of course, but otherwise the lyrics are great, and are peaceful, you won't find these guys dissing people or making rude comments about women.
I quite like this, it's like listening to the early Roots albums, and has the attitude of MC Solaar when he was younger.
You have to hear this, it's worth every penny, lets hope Amazon start stocking this again.
