Product Description

Pop sensation Pixie Lott’s third studio album is A collection of tracks that take their cues from the singer's early musical influences. Gone are the glitzy, fast-paced pop rushes that informed her first two recordings and in their place stand a collection of tracks with a more soulful hue.

The results of this inspirational process is Pixie Lott - a self-titled release and her most personal record to date. Pixie has poured her own experiences and emotions into the lyrical sketches to deliver an album big on soul-heavy ballads and break-up anthems.

As X Factor wannabes come and go, it's refreshing that there are still young, talented artists like Pixie Lott still producing the goods. It's singers like Pixie, Duffy, and Paloma Faith that show that it's possible to sustain a music career for more than fifteen minutes if you pick the right songs and the right collaborators.

After enlisting Stevie Wonder and John Legend on the last album, this is more of a personal grown-up affair. Opener "Nasty" stood out to me as a Christina Aguilera song even before I realised that's exactly what it was, and there was a point where I was ticking off the genres - break up song, check, Motown uplifter, check, BBC montage anthem, check. But cynical as I am, the voice does them all justice. She doesn't wail like Aguilera, she just lets the melodies do the work.

There's still no stand out "Mama Do" or "Cry Me Out", but this is the album of a soul star, and a huge improvement on the previous album. Watch and learn all you Cher Lloyds, James Arthurs and whoever else, this is how you do it.

This album is much better than Pixie's last album, it has a soul sound to it and this is in the whole album and so it has a cohesive sound and these types of songs really suit Pixie's voice.

I wasn't too sure about this album when I first heard Nasty because it sounds very Christina Aguilera and I think. Pixie struggles with the high note, but this song has really grown on me and it's a good start to the album.

The other songs I like are Heart Cry, Lay Me Down, Raise Up and Ain't Got You. There is a gospel sound to I Raise Up and some great vocals towards the end. Lay Me Down has a really catchy chorus and Aint't Got You is a more emotional song and the vocals sound more raw on this song and less perfect or over produced.

As with most albums there are a few songs that are not as good and have more of a pop sound than soul or Motown but overall I think this is a great album and I love Pixie's voice, I would recommend this album, especially if you liked Turn It Up.

This is not the music I normally listen to however she has a fantastic voice. I think she should ignore the twee pop songs and stay in the sixties. If I was her agent I would approach whoever owns Motown and request an audition. I think she has a long career ahead of her if she chooses the right material. Please don't let her go into dance music, it would be a real shame.

Pixie album is just class. I cant say their is one bad song on here the whole album is a pleasure to listen to and you can put on loop and leave it play in the background while you chill out. She continues to grow and I am not surprised by the quality of the album.

Ooh Pixie Lott...you know what you`ve gone and done? Made another excellent album! Some cool tracks on here, been ages reviewing it though as I purchased it on week of release. Includes both `Nasty` & `Lay Me Down` singles. Like `Kill A Man` track, next single? Question - have so called "radio stations" forgotten about Pixie Lott? I sure ain`t!

Make no mistake, this is a FABULOUS album! I love it! It's better than "Young Foolish Happy" (which was great) and ranks alongside "Turn It Up" as one of her best albums. There's the fantastic, funky hit "Nasty" with its James Brown sample and those sexy horns, and other stompers like "Kill A Man" and the touching "Champion".

This album shows those X Factor wannabes how it's done. It has so much personality, so much drive, such fantastic soul-drenched-pop, that it just kicks Cher Lloyd, James Arthur, Ella Henderson, Leona Lewis et al to the kerb. Simon Cowell must be choking with envy because he can't lay any claim to Pixie's career.

Even if you only buy one album this year, make it this one. It is IMPOSSIBLE not to dance to this album - "Nasty" is easily the best single of the year. Pixie is a star - a fantastic singer and songwriter as well as a great role-model for young British women. This is the work of a mature artiste but at the same time it's fresh, hip, funky, original, and damn catchy. I think Pixie should be REALLY PROUD, not just of this album but of herself. Well done, girl - you're a true super-star!!

Amazing album she's got really good music something I can connect with I feel the pain she sings some of the songs with and a very sexy bit of a rasp which makes her one of the best in my opinion
