About the authors

Author, Film Maker, Programmer.
I seem to be interested in so many things, but science and art are probably my main ones. I love to inspire others and to try, in my humble way, to inform and share what I have learned and the things I know. I make movies, fictional ones and I write books, factual ones. I endeavor to encourage others to think about their world and to separate fact from fiction so they may navigate their own lives in comparative safety and enjoy the journey. I love wisdom and curiosity in other people in all age groups. I think we should never close our minds but keep them open, free of bias, and with unblind awareness, ensure truth and honesty become powerful and sustaining elements to improve all life.
I grew up in London, England but for the past twenty years, live at the edge of Oxford City, England. I believe in treating everyone with respect.

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 1 April 2020Ordered this book and it just arrived. Mindful of all the criticism in other reviews like it being insubstantial etc. I ask, what people are expecting?
The book starts from the beginning as it discussings the anatomy of a microscope and does on to discuss some of the theory of biology so a non bio (like me) can understand it!
It then discusses slide prep which i think is a must for anyone entering this game.
i will be investigating the book more over the coming weeks and will update accordingly. Some compared it to a magazine etc. well perhaps its similar in size but a bit thicker but isnt it quality over quantity.
if you give the book a chance, it will change your mind i think. Dont forget the instructional videos that come with this.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 27 September 2014This was bought for my son. What a great book! He has been bitten by the bug, looking down the lens at all manner of specimens. He's a little in love with Pippa too!
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 23 December 2018Bought this as part of my granddaughters Christmas presents, but was disappointed when I opened the package and saw how insubstantial the book was; it is more of a glossy magazine and a thin one at that. What there is of it appears to be quite useful as an introductory guide to microscopes, but based on quantity of content is not good value for money. I was expecting something more substantial that would be a good reference book into the future. If I had seen this book in a bookshop I would never have bought it.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 15 April 2016Awesomely lovely book which really fires up the modern teenager. It's got to be good if it gets them outside, in the fresh air and away from Xboxes!
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 3 July 2016Its the best book i have ever purchased from amazon even if its only for 12 year olds
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 14 May 2020Pippa's Progress is a nicely illustrated book, complemented by her five videos. My children (aged 7, 9 and 12) found it engaging and took an interest in microscopy as a result. Please follow her recommendations on buying microscopes and avoid making the mistakes I made at first. The Apex microscopes are very good value for money, with professional features and suppored by a great British company (Brunel Microscopes). A great way to start.
