When Pinocchio meets the Fairy, she promises to grant his wish if he can demonstrate that he is brave, loyal and honest. But Pinocchio just loves having fun and is easily tempted into making the wrong decisions so he stumbles from one misadventure to another until he realises what is really important to him.
Based on the story by Carlo Collodi, The Adventures of Pinocchio is retold by Katie Daynes. This version is part of the Usborne Young Reading series, which combines exciting stories with easy reading text. The story is faithful to the original but has been put in clear, straightforward text making it a perfect book for the 6-8 age group.
Beautifully illustrated by Italian artist Mauro Evangelista, it will ensure that Pinocchio is instantly recognizable as the famous puppet made out of the wood.'

This particular book is from SERIES TWO.
From the back cover:

Example of text:
'A piece of wood:
Once upon a time there was... a piece of wood.
Lying in a corner of the carpenter's workshop, it looked just like any other piece of wood.
The carpenter's name was Mr Cherry and he needed a table leg.
"Perfect!" he said, catching sight of the wood.
He rested it against his workshop and picked up a chisel.
As the chisel touched the wood, a voice cried out, "Don't hurt me!"
Mr Cherry looked up in surprise.
He was alone in the room.
"I must be imaging things," he thought.
But when he tried again, tapping the chisel against the wood, someone screamed...'
This is indeed no ordinary piece of wood...it is a talking piece of wood and can be rather rude, to say the least...as it turns out!
Mr Cherry is quite relieved to see the back of it, as his friend Gepetto strolls away clutching it!
But...this is just the beginning of VERY strange things happening!
