The story starts off as a fun boat trip. Crustina and her friend Kathlean are aboard Crustina's pretty pink boat. The sun is burning down, it's getting very hot and they decide to head back to shore, when something extraordinary happens to Crustina and then something even more weird happens and luckily Kathlean is safely back on land.
But what happened to Crustina? Well, you don't know, because the author doesn't provide us with an answer as to Crustina's destiny, the story ends with a big questionmark.
I found this quite an unsual way of "storytelling", as the young reader is challenged to come up with their own idea. The book has the potential to inspire lively discussions within a group, when the kids let their imagination run free, but the missing end makes it a rather quick, short read.
Still, I can see this being the right book for a summer beach excursion and the children having fun to try to think of all the possible whereabouts of Crustina.
The illustrations are bright and beautiful, especially the pink boat, I find quite stunning.

"The story has a mysterious and open ending which leaves room for readers to interpret what happened to Crustina in their own way. The story is a sort of a puzzle which will fascinate kids and make them think. The pictures are lovely and vibrant and breathe life into the scenes and characters. The surprise twist in the middle and the unexpected ending make it an enjoyable read for children. It is a good book that can be used in read aloud sessions in classrooms. It will be nice to see the way the kids come up with different interpretations for the ending. I enjoyed the book mainly because the story is original and it breaks away from the norm. The author gives young readers the space and opportunity to think with the ending."

The pages are nicely illustrated to time the story. Lots of warm colors to go with the affection of the two girls. Easy reading as there are not too many words and lengthy sentences. Mostly the texts are centralized to make for the hip presentation.
It is a good read !
