Max you are a jerk, yes i am calling you out you my be one of the main characters of this story but you have serious jerk status. Now do not fear if you are reading this review Max does redeem himself as the story progresses but it takes a few home truths from Emilia and a few more life altering events to help him rid himself of the jerkiness that coats him. Emilia - really liked her i loved how she was trying to forge ahead with her life from under the restrictive regime she lived. This is a story of two people coming to terms with the new way they have to live and from it all something amazing can grow, but it is not without its nerve wracking moments. Not gonna tell you about them - sorry.A journey of self discovery for two very different people but who have a connection that cannot be denied.First time reading this author, but totally loved this book

What can I say, this book was beautiful, fantastic, fabulous, brilliant and loads more words like that. From the very first page I was hooked. Max was a typical single guy with commitment issues and Emelia was sweet and sassy exactly what Max didn't know he needed.
A beautifully written book which at times was heart wrenching, but such a great story with flawed characters and life changing events, it was a rollercoaster ride of emotions from start to finish and I loved every bit of it. I would highly recommend it.
I was lucky enough to receive an ARC for an honest review.

I received a ARC in exchange for a honest review.
4.5* read.
Max is your typical single lad until he gets news he never expects and then ends up a single dad. Max at the start of this book I hated to the point I wanted to chuck my kindle out the window. Luckily though Max changed and so did my opinion of him and I realized he had to go on that journey from the start to get to the person he is now. Emelia is Max's new neighbor and I loved the bond she formed with Max and their relationship and journey they take together. Great read.

I loved the hell out of this book, I really did. It wasn't a drama-rama nor an intense angst fest, instead I got a sweet romantic read that hooked me from the beginning and SO worked for me.

Max was a total closed off alphahole in the beginning, but he admitted it and owned it made no excuses for it. I loved his total honesty, right the way through the book. He had huge character growth right from the beginning, and witnessing him soften and fall totally head over heels in love with Xander was so damn cute. He really stepped up to the plate for Xander and I love how this was done gradually.

I also love how Keri (Xander's mom) was worked into the story - no evil/skanky ex's here.

Em, 8 years younger than Max truly was the sweetest heroine. Strong, brave, caring and loving and just what Max and Xander needed.

Initially I wasn't sure the stalker plot was needed but after thinking about it I think it was - it certainly resolved the mother situation, and also as it didn't detract from my reading experience I'm okay with how the author took the story.
