Pieces is the debut album from precocious Swedish pop singer-songwriter Erik Hassle. Mixing his love of soul music--and his equally (perhaps surprisingly) soulful voice--with modern pop production and classic loved and lost lyrics, Pieces features the singles "Don't Bring Flowers" and "Hurtful".

album 'Pieces' deserves to find a place in the listening world.
Of the twelve songs in this collection there is not one dud.
It's pop and it's proud to be.
Big shiny memorable tunes and incandescent choruses.
You could probably dance to it too if you felt thus inclined.
'Don't bring Flowers' is a particularly good example
of what Mr Hassle is best at. His crisply confident
voice has a pleasing little vibrato hidden at its core
and his top notes ring out with clarity and resonance.
'The Thanks I Get' is a lovely composition. The plaintive
vocal performance of the powerful central melody is really
stunning. As the arrangement builds slowly to its rousing
climax our hero doesn't falter for a moment. Some may find
the unguarded sentiment a tad soppy but I loved it to bits!
The single 'Hurtful' is another cracking song.
Uplifting and soulful in equal measure.
Final track 'Amelia', pared-down to an economical arrangement
for guitar and strings, allows the voice to stand out and shine
brightly like a shooting star hurtling across a dark night sky.
A stunning conclusion to a thoroughly enjoyable album.
His voice has an excellent quality to it, especially in the chorus of 'Standing Where You Left Me', for example, when it goes all gravelly. A definite must-buy!
Mika was equally as amazing check his stuff out too.
