This is a heartbreakingly beautiful story. There will be times when you can feel the hurt and sadness from Phoebe. But behind all of that is the wonderfully beautiful Beau patiently guiding Phoebe forward. An excellent read wonderfully told by Michelle Irwin. I highly recommend this book
We all know that Phoebe was taken by her Pysco ex Xavier and we all know that when she was saved by Beau and her dad that she wasn’t the same happy go lucky fun loving chick that we loved she was, Broken.
How does someone come back from what she has been through.
We didn’t know what she had been through at the hands of Bee, Xavier and his bible bashing mother, but through this book we go through parts of her trauma, its not for the light hearted its, Dark.
But its tasteful and beautifully written.
I’m not going to go into detail of what Phoebe has gone through I will leave that for the readers to read for themselves.
Throughout this book we watched this broken girl with so many triggers and not leaving he safe zone of her room to slowly coming out thanks to the one man who is helping bring phoebe back.
At the start Phoebe wants nothing to do with the love of her life Beau who is also completely broken from losing the one women he loves but also losing there unborn child at the mercy of the evil Bee.
Beau moves to Australia in the hopes that Phoebe will one day come back to him and in efforts to be close to her just in case she needs him.
After 8 weeks of being back at home and her family not being able to help her through Beau comes up with an idea that may help Phoebe start breaking through.
This is where she lays eyes on him for the 1st time in 8 weeks. She talk to him for a minute. This is the 1st time phoebe has spoken to anyone in other than her immediate family or her psychiatrist in 8 weeks she hasn’t even spoken to Angel her best friend her other half her soul mate, this is a massive step for Phoebe and her parents Its shows a glimpse of light at the end of the very long tunnel.
Through out the book Phoebe makes tiny steps in her recovery but is also crippled by small triggers, we loved how real this story was and that Michelle took the time to do what happen to phoebe justice in the book the story line wasn’t rushed and it played out as if it would in every day life more or less.
Michelle did an amazing job on a very touchy subject and personally think its her best book to date, i couldn’t imagine what she went through writing this book it was raw gritty and heart breaking to read but so beautifully written.
Thank you Michelle for taking on a roller coaster and bring us to our knees with the events that took place with phoebe.
5 Massive Stars
I was given this book in turn for an honest review.
Phoebe Reede has suffered at the hands of pure evil; has she got the strength to learn to live again? Or is the fight too much? Can anyone help her to break down her guarded walls and live again?
Firstly, I have to start by saying how amazing this series is shaping up to be. This series is worthy of a TV Series without any doubt! A film would never truly give the words that Michelle Irwin writes the full praise and justice that they deserve and even then, a TV Series would have their work, cut out for them.
This book is probably the most powerful and emotional yet. I was on a different kind of emotional rollercoaster with Physis. I knew this book would be heart breaking, I just hadn’t fully prepared myself for how heart wrenching and breathing taking this story was going to be.
Reading Phoebe’s flashbacks to the weeks of torture and hell she had endured tore at my heart, piece by piece. She was a complete shell of her former self and it was hard to see that she had a chance of ever being even a glimpse of her true self, again. Then we meet her saving grace, the man who has taken my heart by storm and secured a place there forever.
I can’t go into too many details without giving away the unique and important aspects of this story. What I can say, is that Beau proves to be even more of an outstanding and amazing man than we ever dreamed possible. He isn’t afraid to try, even when that means he could get hurt himself in the process. He has also found himself a place in the life of the Reede’s whether things pan out the way he hopes with Phoebe.
The Phoebe Reede series is unique, thrilling, exciting, heart breaking and heart-warming.
What can I say? Read this series, its well worth it, but beware its not all chocolates and roses, well the blurb says it all, so you can see it will be an emotional read...
Phoebe Reede has suffered unimaginable tortures at the hands of her captors. Now home and safe, she can’t let go of the things that happened to her. No amount of therapy or coaxing by her parents can draw her from her shell.
How can she learn to live again, when everything she loved about herself is gone?
Well, I am keeping this short... read and see for yourself.
So what can I say about this book, I read this book a few weeks ago when I was sent the book to review I dropped everything and started reading, and didn't stop.
Ms Irwin has proved she can write emotionally charged stuff, the feelings and emotions she has put down on paper are heart-wrenching, I felt Phoebe's pain, torment and frustrations.
The book quite rightly so is not a light tale, its dark, but there is hope, we should always have hope even in the darkest of hours.
I really can't wait for the next book, I know its going to be worth the wait.
