"Anyone starting to take an interest in this field will find this book an invaluable reference. The author's easy way of imparting his knowledge and enthusiasm for photography comes through from beginning to end. Each section of the book is fully illustrated in colour. Many of the images which are used to illustrate a point are by world renowned photographers. This the fourth edition has been brought right up to date, and now includes all the latest innovations and techniques of the digital photographic world."

My only disappointment with this book was the amount of film photography literature that has been cut out as this book mainly focuses on digital processes. I don't see why they couldn't keep the film stuff in and add to it? It would have been nice to have the comparisons of both processes on specific subjects such as solarisation/sabattier effect, and toning and tinting.... It would have been good to show the foundations of what the digital side is based on; as good and convenient as digital is it is always good to grasp the basics in the darkroom first.
An excellent book and most strongly recommended.
